NOW, having said that -- and being a Giants fan, so not bitter like some Jets fans are --Kubiak and Alex Gibbs' linemen were constantly accused of dirty cut blocks with that zone blocking scheme for those stretch plays. Back in Denver, their guys ended a couple of Chargers players' seasons (and Tanuvasa's career) with dirty blocks like that. It's as if the Jets were coached to give the Texans what they do when their guards pull and kick out, pushing guys in the back (and often rolling up on their legs in the process).

Zone blocking is not dirty, but when guys seem to be diving into other guys' knees like Slauson did last night, that's a completely different story.

Not quite sure how all of the PED comments are still valid. Regardless of whether or not he actually used PEDs, which according to the NFL he did, he served his time. After serving that time he came back and was still the same player he was before the suspension. He's still just as angry, fierce, fast, and aggressive as he was before the suspension. I say all of this to point out that he did not take the route of Shawn Merriman and drop off the face of the earth. He's still an excellent player and the heart of a good defense, so maybe it's not just the PEDs which made him a good player.

You idiots are dumb to say it's PEDs that is what got him injured. If anyone got hit in the knee like that, 9 times out of 10 someone will tear a ligament in that knee.

But aside from that, as a Bolt fan I liked watching him play. He is good closing the gap and drop back in the pass. A big blow to the Texans defense. Hopefully Dobbins steps up and fills those shoes correctly.

gojags says:

“You get what you give. Texans are notorious for going low and they got what they gave to others. The Blocking scheme is to go low on Defensive linemen and Cushing got a crack blow. Cushing its time to juice up!!!!”

Man, are you a serious idiot. You’re obviously a frustrated fan of a pathetically bad team, so you decided to try to add insult to injury. The Texans do not do anything dirty with their blocking scheme and you know it. Trying to compare what the Texans do with that cheap shot that took Cushing out just demonstrates how a fan’s hatred for one team can completely cloud their judgment. Keep rooting for losers, loser.

Re: Doing something to stop dirty plays like this.

I have long been of the opinion that if someone injures a player as a result of a dirty play, IOW a play that draws either a fine or a penalty, they should be suspended for however long the injured player is out. You end someone's season on a dirty play? You just ended your own season. I guaran-gawd-damn-tee it if the NFL did that, you'd see a quick end to those kinds of plays.

Huge loss for our defense. What makes it worse is that it was from a dirty hit.

It will be interesting to see what the league does. There is absolutely no way you can defend the block--it was clearly meant to injure. The league turned the other way when Rex told his players to injure Reggie Bush. Rex thinks the NFL is still like it was when his daddy coached--something needs to be done to stop this dirty coach/team.

It's sad to see those that are so low in life and feel the need to come on a message board and poke fun at someone for being injured.

It's a shame to hear about Brian Cushing, he's a high-energy player that is a ferocious leader on the field. If anyone can/will recover from an injury it's this guy.

A true testament to the way Cushing plays the game is on YouTube. After a teammate of his intercepts a pass, Cushing goes running down field as the lead blocker and completely destroys a 300+ pound lineman then calls the guy a name most men would not appreciate being called...The two get in each others face and then somehow Cushing's helmet comes off and even though it's off, he still headbutts the guy.

Cheap, dirty, dispicable hit by Matt Slauson. The dive at Cushing's knee came nowhere near the play. The only reason to dive at a knee like that is that you are looking to seriously injure someone.

Well congrats, mission accomplished. Is anyone surprised a Jet would do that? Me neither. As always, karma awaits the Jest and Matt Slauson in particular.

Get well Cushing.

What a shame. As a steeler fan we know what its like to deal with big time injuries to our top players. Texans imo are the most well rounded team in the nfl. This is going to hurt them. But you still have enough to beat the ravens their defense is terrible. So i wouldnt sweat it too much!

-----------------------------------------------

Really cause the Steelers are the only other team to suffer injuries to your top players? do you even hear yourself? The Texans made it to the play off's and won a game with the 3rd string qb last year. The Jet's just lost Homes and Revis so the STEELERS are not the only team who suffers injuries to top players. so stop it!
