Raiderapologist, I heard an interesting theory on one of the sports talk shows here in KC. The gist was that , yes, there is a lot of cap space but that maybe no one wants to play for Pioli. You have to wonder why Peyton wouldn’t even stop in KC when he was searching for a new team.

If Brady Quinn is Captain Checkdown, then Cassel is General/President/God Checkdown. He is literally incapable of going through his progressions, and constantly swings it out to a running back who is 2 yards behind the LOS on 3rd & 10 with a defender closing in on him.

yelix, lots of Chiefs fans are talking about drafting a QB early next year. Do you think they will? It’s obvious they have no confidence in Cassel, or they wouldn’t have tried so hard to keep the ball out of his hands last week. They could have made a move this year. Young team, lots of cap space, and they go out and grab another lineman.

orton is looking like a Rodgers right now to chiefs fan…
to everyone talking down Cassel’s credentials… i watched that whole season and all the home games for patriots the year cassel played… he definitely looked like an good NFL QB… they went 11-5… he looked a lot more legitimate then kolb or flynn… so i dont blame chiefs for making that trade… some things just dont work out…

Quinn was better in college, has a stronger arm, can see the field. Has had only 12 career starts. He has a problem with the rush and is not used to the speed of the current game. How to fix that? Play the man! Let him get some experience.
Quinn – 9 Starts in 2009 (last, and only year given an opportunity) with a 67.2 rating.

Cassel was a back up in college, has a weak arm, can not see the field. Has had 59 career starts. He has a problem with the rush and is not used to the speed of the current game. How to fix that? Can’t… More games will not make him better. Currently Matt has a 66.2 Rating.

I really like Matt and wanted him to be the man, but I love the Chiefs more and it is time for someone else to have an opportunity to move this franchise out of the cellar.

Let the thumbs down begin…

I agree with the majority of comments. Why not give Quinn or even Stanzi a shot this season. If Chiefs fans have learned anything the past few seasons it’s that they aren’t going anywhere with Cassel.

The season is essentially over for the Chiefs anyway. We need to keep people healthy and draft a QB high in the first this year.

You don’t understand how truly bad Cassel has been. If Quinn is Captain Check down, as you say, that means he has the ability to look for a receiver other than the primary one the play is designed to go to.
That is already an upgrade from Cassel because he throws into double/triple coverage constantly.

When Quinn came in last week and went 3 for 3 he was putting the ball on the money hitting the receivers in stride. We hardly ever see cassel do that. I just hope they actually call a passing play for quinn unlike last week when the chiefs ran every play. This is the NFL not pee wee football these guys get paid to make plays, throw the ball. I mean this is a passing league isn’t it??

Someone said lets see what Quinn can do. Now that is laughable, I guess many KC fans haven’t seen Quinn play, Captain check down. The only bright spot in this, is that for Sunday and believe me that will be the only time he will play, J. Charles will be a PPR monster.

Let’s see what Quinn can do. He’s had a couple years on the bench now to learn and settle, maybe he’ll be a decent QB.

Cassel never should’ve been cleared to start for any team in the first place. There’s a reason before the Chiefs that he’d been a backup ever since high school. I mean we’re looking at a guy that couldn’t beat out Matt Leinart at QB despite seniority.

Being a fan of a team in the AFC west this is a very sad day because I doubt we get to see Matt Cassel again. Man it sure was fun watching the chiefs organization actually beleive this guy was an NFL caliber starting QB, crazy how long it lasted.

And exactly why did we let Kyle Orton leave?

Orton will never win a SB, but he could have helped us to the playoffs in waiting to draft a QB in next years draft.

We might as well run the wildcat with Charles at QB. Everyone knows he’s getting the ball either way.
