Getty ImagesSteelers kicker Shaun Suisham kicked the game-winning field goal on Sunday against the Eagles, and as a result he’s been named the AFC’s special teams player of the week.
Suisham went 3-for-3 on field goals, connecting once from 20 yards and twice from 34 yards, with the last field goal coming as time expired to win the game, 16-14. For the season, Suisham is now 8-for-8 on field goals.
This is Suisham’s second player of the week award; he won the NFC special teams player of the week while playing for the Redskins in Week Nine of the 2007 season, when he went 5-for-5 on field goals in a win over the Jets.

Nice drive Steelers and Suisham leg straight down the middle.
I think Steeler fans will agree, Suishams leg is a lot stronger this year… credit to him for offseason workouts. On kickoff he is 5-10 yards longer on every kick from last year.
Must have been a pretty slow Special Teams week if this performance was the best.
Statistically the best kicker the Redskins ever had, and they booted him because he hit a slump. 87 kickers later and the Skins still haven’t been able to replace him. Need I say that they should have never shown him the door in the first place?
Steelers players are OLD and it is showing
Another Ex-Redskin flourishing elsewhere. Been through 19 kickers in an amount of time when no other team has been through 13. Hopefully, Kai Forbath helps us but history is against us.
What’s the big deal about kicking a 34 yard field goal? An NFL kicker should never miss a kick of that length unless its blocked.
Steelers fan…but why would a kicker who was 3for3, with a long of 34 be the player of the week?
Musta been a slow week
Not sure how an article about their kicker winning AFC’s special teams player of the week or them beating a 3-1 team that was favored by many to go to the Super Bowl this year lead to a comment about Steeler players being old, but I guess brain cramps do happen.
