The Vikings didn’t have wide receiver Jerome Simpson at practice on Wednesday, but they don’t expect to be without him much longer than that.

Simpson had an MRI after experiencing weakness in his lower left leg during Sunday’s 30-7 win over the Titans. Doctors believe that a back issue caused the problem and that it shouldn’t be a problem that causes Simpson to miss a significant amount of time this season. Coach Leslie Frazier said that Simpson could practice on Thursday and/or Friday with every reason to still believe that he can play against the Redskins in Week Six.

“All indications are there is a very good chance,” Frazier said, via Mark Craig of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “We’ll know more as he responds to some of the treatment that they give him today. Hopefully, we’ll get him back at practice tomorrow. But we don’t think it’s anything long-term at all.”

Simpson did not catch a pass last week. He had four catches for 50 yards in Week Four, his first game of the season after serving a three-game suspension to start the year.

Running back Adrian Peterson is also sitting out this session after spraining his ankle on Sunday. The Vikings do not expect the injury will keep him out of the lineup against Washington.
