Broncos claim Holiday in hopes of boost to return game

Trindon Holliday, Kealoha Pilares AP

Waived yesterday by the Texans, return specialist Trindon Holiday wasn’t out of work long.

According to his agent’s Twitter account, Holiday was claimed Thursday by the Denver Broncos.

The 5-foot-5 Holiday scored three touchdowns on returns in the preseason, but his regular season numbers weren’t as impressive, averaging 19.4 yards per kickoff return and 9.2 yards per punt return.

Of course, the Broncos are averaging an anemic 18.9 yards per kickoff and 7.4 per punt, so he looks like an upgrade.

poor return game, poor run defense – wherever he goes, some things will always follow Peyton Manning
at least he’s in a division which looks like is going to have a weak year

I knew he wouldn’t’ stay unemployed long. When you put out tape of 3 returned TDs in 4 preseason games somebody is bound to take a flyer on you.

I don’t think the Texans dropped him so much due to lack of production, although his production was definitely lacking, they dropped him to make room for MLB depth after losing Cushing for the year. Holliday was a specialist and a luxury we can’t afford anymore. Danieal Manning is one of the best in the buesiness but after breaking his leg doing it last year we didn’t wanna risk him.

Holliday was cut to make room for the Olineman they brought up from the PS, when Cush was put on IR if left a spot open for the ILB they signed. Also Kubes has said K Mart will be used on Punts and Kickoffs not Manning.

Good luck, he got released because we hardly ever started at the 20 or better. Felt like he wasn’t going to win us a game but he could lose one which is identical to what we got rid of in the offseason.

Hopefully he can hold the ball.
