There's no freaking way that the 2009 Vikings' turnover machine would have beaten Peyton Manning and the Colts!!!

I find it interesting how the NFL has not fallen into step with the overall practice in America of protecting whistleblowers. In the case Cynthia Cooper, her ability to remain anonymous for a period of time while still operating as an internal auditor at Worldcom was central to her role in the resulting investigation.

As seen in the Dodd-Frank Whistleblower provisions, the federal government has made clear that it believes that by providing protection from company reprisals greater participation by whistleblowers will lead to greater accountability within corporate America.

How can the NFL justify outing its whistleblower? How can the league be so short sighted as to ignore the message this sends (i.e. we will not protect your anonymity, we will place you at risk of harm (both physically and financially).

What incentive is there now for any individual to come forward with allegations of wrongdoing within NFL organizations? The NFL made a seriously short-sighted misstep that will ultimately weaken the level of accountability within the league and increase the chances that schemes such as the alleged pay for injury scheme will go unnoticed and unpunished.
