In case you didn’t know. The Niners QB + WR excluding RB’s have more rushing yards then the Raiders have as a TEAM. That is how bad the Raiders “scheme” is.

Elite teams don’t go 0 for forever in NFL championships. They don’t lose to 0-4 teams, and they don’t get waxed by “elite” teams like the Falcons. If you have to compare your team to another in order to make yourself feel superior, you’re a loser.

I have no idea why Oakland insists on being a passing team with Palmer at QB and McFadden there at RB. The only game they stayed committed to the run and weren’t trying to pass it 4 out of 5 plays was the only game they won.

Coach Dennis Allen said that he’s seen progress during the bye week, but cautioned that the team isn’t going to move away from the zone blocking system installed by new offensive coordinator Greg Knapp this offseason. To many observers, the poor fit of the Raiders personnel with that system has been the biggest problem with the run game in the first four games.

Hey, but it doesn’t matter if your personnel is better suited for their previous system. Dennis Allen and that fan proclaimed “upgrade” that I heard about in the off-season, Greg Knapp, are going to keep drilling that square peg into that round hole.

Where are all of you clueless “fans” who criticized me for pointing this out because you couldn’t see this train wreck coming.

Hue Jackson is twice the OC of Knapp. Did anyone she McFadden last year before he got hurt. He looked like the best back in the NFL and Oakland was playoff bond even with a putrid defense. Can’t believe someone hasn’t offered Hue an OC job.

IMO the o-line is better than last year, it is inexcusable that the running game has taken such a major step backwards. However, I have trouble believing McFadden isn’t due to break out soon. Although I am nervous saying “break” and “out” when it comes to McFadden.

New coach, new system. Everybody knows there will be growing pains but to totally abandon the PBS that made the Raiders one of the top rushing teams last year is beyond me. Knapp better figure out how to use his best weapon in Run DMC.

What was wrong with the running scheme the Raiders were using last year? When McFadden went down he was having a great year and Bush got plugged in and started putting up 100 plus yards a week. Why would you go and mess with that?

I was recently reminded about the Seahawks struggles to incorporate zone blitzing. http://www.fieldgulls.com/2012/7/15/3160997/the-seahawks-the-zone-blocking-scheme

I believe it will take a little while to get McFadden and the linemen all on the same page. Once it does, it should benefit McFadden and the team.
With that said, they need to get their pretty good wide receivers on the field at the same time. I think this will be the first time this season that Moore and Heyward-Bey will be on the field at the same time. Hopefully that starts to open things up. Also, not since week one they have not taken advantage of McFadden’s receiving abilities. Get on it Raiders!
