Steelers take lead on Wallace touchdown, but Pouncey goes down

Mike Wallace has shown once again why he may be the best deep threat in the NFL.

After the Steelers and Titans traded field goals on Thursday night, it was Wallace who gave the Steelers an early lead by catching a deep ball from Ben Roethlisberger and racing to the end zone for an 82-yard touchdown. It was the 24th catch for 40 or more yards of Wallace’s career.

Unfortunately for the Steelers, not everything has gone well offensively. Center Maurkice Pouncey went down with an apparent ankle injury on Pittsburgh’s first offensive play.

The Steelers also lost safety Will Allen, starting tonight in place of the injured Troy Polamalu, when Allen had a hard collision with Titans receiver Kenny Britt.

The Titans have missed a couple of good opportunities, with Kendall Wright failing to reel in what could have been a touchdown pass on their first drive, and their second drive stalling after a good start with a long gain by Britt. The Titans got field goals on both of those drives to trail 10-6 late in the first quarter.
