The Titans have been blown out in four of their first five games, but tonight against the Steelers they’re playing good football, taking a 13-10 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Tennessee kicked two first-quarter field goals, then turned a blocked punt, recovered at the 1-yard line, into a one-yard touchdown run from Jamie Harper. Throw in another field goal on the final play of the first half, and the Titans lead 16-10.
The Steelers got a Shaun Suisham 29-yard field goal on their first drive and a Mike Wallace 82-yard touchdown on their second drive, but since then they’ve been held scoreless. A good opportunity late in the second half was wasted when Ben Roethlisberger threw a bad interception.
The worst news for the Steelers’ offense is that two starters on the line have already gone down, with center Maurkice Pouncey and tackle Marcus Gilbert both suffering leg injuries. Pittsburgh has only seven active offensive linemen tonight, so another injury would be devastating to the offense. And the Steelers are going to need an effective offense in the second half.
