Mike Florio talks with former NFL official and current NBC officiating consultant Jim Daopoulos to discuss the NFL’s decision to fine Jets guard Matt Slauson for his ACL-tearing tackle on Texans linebacker Brian Cushing. They wonder if Cushing hadn’t suffered a season-ending injury on the play, would the NFL have been so severe with their discipline on Slauson? Daopoulos also believes that while the hit on Cushing was fairly dirty, it was not illegal and Slauson’s appeal will be granted.

It was illegal for two reasons
1) Out of the box
2) Made while blocking in the direction of his own endzone
Perpetuation incorrect information doesn’t somehow make it valid, no matter how many times one does it.
