On the eve of a challenging game against the Seahawks in Seattle, the Patriots scratched a key player on each side of the ball.

According to Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com, the Pats have ruled out receiver Julian Edelman and linebacker Dont’a Hightower.

Hightower, who has a hamstring injury, missed last Sunday’s game against the Broncos.  Edelman, who has a hand injury, has missed the last two games.

Reiss points out that, with Hightower’s backup (Tracy White) also out, defensive end Rob Ninkovich could be moved to linebacker.

With Edelman out and tight end Aaron Hernandez expected to be used sparingly if at all, receiver Wes Welker could get another chance to stick it in coach Bill Belichick’s face.

Would be interesting if rob played lb today so we could see some more Cunningham maybe

I think most Pats fans appreciate the game of Rob Ninkovich, but he’s really struggling this year as a DE. I’d definitely welcome the chance to see Cunningham or maybe even Jake Bequette get some more reps at DE.

Patskrieg dot com must not watch much football and only listen to the commentators point of views. Surprise: Commentators barely have a clue. Ninkovich has been tearing up offensive lines the last three weeks. Check your stats, amigo.

Nincovich will play LB and Cunningham will start DE. Pats will be good.

Bigoltds: Actually no he hasn’t. He had a good game against Denver, but other then that he’s struggled quite a bit. He has had a very tough time setting the edge against the run and hasn’t been able to produce a consistent pass rush against even average right tackles. Remember that game against Baltimore? Other than the occasional pressure from Jones, Flacco could have baked a cake and made a sandwich in that pocket he was being provided. Cunningham deserves a shot and I think it’s time to give him one.

Bleepity bleep. This was a Hightower type game. Big Vince & Kyle Love are going to have to have monster games today. Spikes too. I have faith they can.
