Haslam will have 12-18 months to sell off his stake in Steelers

Jimmy Haslam AP

As mentioned earlier in the day, Jimmy Haslam possibly will hold simultaneous ownership interests in the Browns and the Steelers.

A separate source tells PFT that Haslam will have roughly 12-18 months to transfer his 12.5-percent stake in the Steelers to another team.

Though the dual ownership may cause Browns fans to wonder about Haslam’s loyalties, he’ll have no involvement in the Steelers.  The goal will be to allow Haslam to avoid a fire sale that would force him to sell his share at less than market value — which would serve only to undermine the remaining value of the Steelers and, indirectly, the value of every other team.

Even if Haslam had divided loyalties, could he really do that much HARM to the Browns at this point?

The people of Pittsburgh and Western Penn. should be allowed to buy the shares. That fan base is loyal to the extreme much like the Packers. Give them a reward.
