Raiders lead Falcons at the half

The Raiders haven’t won a game in the Eastern time zone since 2009, when they won at Heinz Field.  Through 30 minutes on Sunday, the Raiders are in position to end that streak in an unlikely way.

Oakland leads the 5-0 Falcons in the Georgia Dome, 13-7.

The lead has been fueled by a sharp performance from Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer, who has completed nine of 12 passes for 167 yards, 49 yards of which came on one throw to Denarius Moore.

Helping the cause has been Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who has thrown three interceptions to a Raiders team that had no interceptions all season long.  Ryan also has completed 13 of his 17 throws, which means that only one has struck the ground.

The Falcons’ great start is two quarters away from striking the ground with a thud, if they don’t turn it around.
