I don’t get the lovefest for Griffin – he is primarily only a runner – he isn’t that impressive as a passer – he usually throws under 20 yard passes and is not very accurate deep. In fact, when Griffin is confined to being just a passer, the Redskins lose.

History will not be kind to Griffin – his style of quarterbacking has never won a Super Bowl.

Right now Griffin is merely Mike Vick without the interceptions and the felon convictions.

Only this guy could write about that game and make it sound like Washington didn’t deserve the win.

If you look at the whole piece, the closest thing he has to a positive comment about the Redskins is that Griffin “looked like he had no complications from last week’s concussion”. Not that he ‘looked stellar against an excellent Minnesota defense’, not that he ‘looked like an up and coming superstar’, not even that he ‘looked like a competent starter in the NFL’; just that he “looked like he had no complications from last week’s concussion”.

In fact, he praises Ponder, for his efforts in previous games and what was essentially garbage time, more than he praises Griffin, the Shanahans and the Washington defense put together. Ponder “[was not] the efficient guy who didn’t throw a single pick in the first four games”, and “responded with a pair of touchdown drives, giving the Vikings a shot after they trailed by 19.” Ridiculous.

I like his reporting in general, and I’m not sure that he’s totally aware of the tone his pieces about Washington take on, but it’s kind of weird that a professional sports writer can’t cover one of the 32 NFL franchises without being able to admit that not everything they do is a horrible mistake.

All the Ponder haters and Robert Griffin obsessors can calm down. First off, Griffin did what it took to win, but that was a designed draw against an all out blitz. Just a good call. Second off, with the exception of two very bad plays by Ponder that resulted in 14 points for the Redskins, the Vikings win. Not to mention this is the second time he’s led a no huddle attack down the field. He’s clutch. Lastly, the Redskins defense showed up in the red zone, as they could have easily been down 21-0, but they weren’t. Vikings need to figure out how to get the ball in the endzone early in games. (Indy, Detroit, and now Washington). Were a team built to be ahead. 17 or 21-0 makes all the difference in this game.
_____
Right, good point, and if Ponder and Harvin switch abilities with Montana and Rice in some kind of Freaky Friday scenario, the Vikings win ahead 63-0.

On the other hand, if Griffin is hit with a dose of radiation and turns into the Incredible Hulk just before the game, Washington wins 584-0.

Ponder is very average and Griffin is amazing. The Redskins and their fans can look forward to many games like this. The same can be said for the Vikings and their fans. Griffin can carry his team like a great quarterback should and Ponder doesn't have that ability. The games the Vikings have won have been won by great defense, great special teams, and mistake free offense. That's a lot to ask for consistently. Not a fan of RGIII but this kid is for real. He can carry his team to victory on his back. Wow.

Actually, his style is most comparable to Steve Young, that's why Shanahan fell in love with the QB. He's a pass first QB with the ability to kill you with his mobility. In terms of accuracy, Vick is still trying to be as accurate a QB as Griffin III already has proven to be so far. Also, he's much more mature and much more of a natural leader than Vick or Newton. I'm not crowning the kid until he wins a championship, but so far, he is everything we've expected and more! He has 9-10 TDs and 2 INTs, I would say that's a pretty damn good start! He's on pace for about 30 TDs and 3 INTs (I'm sure he will throw more than 3 INTs, but he's faced pretty damn good defenses so far! The only team we've played that doesn't have a winning record is NO, and they're still a damn good football team! He had a great game. Simple as that. He's now shown in 6 games that he can dominate a team (NO) lead a game winning drive (TB, and St. Louis to be honest) and deliver in clutch situations (CIN and MIN). He's showing that he's a very good QB so far, I just dont get the hate for him. His teeth are too big? Hey ya know what? If all you have to bash the kid for are his teeth...I'd say he's taking care of business on the field! Props to Trent Williams! Making Jared Allen look like a rookie today, not a simple task!

You said it Rick if he stays healthy! Why wouldn't people compare him to Newton or Vick. That is the style. You going to compare him to Bardy, Manning or Brees. Good of you to pick a white hall of famer to compare him too. Tell you what last year Newton was the next coming. Griffith already has 1 hit the head in the 1st month. I am guessing it won't be his last. A football career is long long road but right now I have no plans on buying up all Griffith rookie cards

I love reading people compare Griffth to Newton or Vick. I think a lot of those people have never watched him play and only say that because he is black and can run. This guy plays QB more like Steve Young than the other two. That's why he less the league in QB rating and completion pct. people need to stop hating and just appreciate him, if he stays healthy he will mean a decade of success for the Redskins just like both Mannings, Brady the great ones give you ten years of relevance and a championship.

This to the Redskin fans who believe the trade debate has been settled after playing 6 games. Hate to break it to you but it is not and won't be settled for years to come. Also, history has not smiled favorably on these type of trades where a team mortgages its future first round picks for a single player. That is why it is not done more often. But after seeing RG3 and the way he makes grown men cry and wet themselves ( that would be the Redskin Nation), I can't say it was a bad move. No doubt a great player but it will take serious Luck on the part of management to find skill players in the later rounds to help him get better. And it will have to come from the draft as Washington and free agency haven't really worked to this point. From a Colts fan I wish you the best of Luck. Go Blue.

Best rookie QB I've ever seen. I'm not sure there is a more accurate passer in the league. Combine that with incredible running skill and a good head on his shoulders and lookout - you have a true game changing star.

Watching Ponder go up against Luck and RGIII - it makes me depressed that the Vikings are stuck with Ponder when they were 1 more loss last year from securing one of them. Switch QBs in that game and I think it's a 2 TD win for Minn. Ponder was awful and RGIII was great.

Great to see the Vikings lose. Now, their very small fanbase can watch a real team in the Packers knock off Houston.

Hey all you football experts, wanna know the REAL MVP of this game? Trent Williams, for shutting Jared Allen down almost the entire game, and the entire O-Line, really, for a fantastic performance…They’re the reason RG3 and Morris were able to do what they did.

And the defense got a little better again, like they improved last week despite the loss. Washington is improving!!! HAIL
______
Agreed, Williams was definitely on point today, but the Shanahans also deserve a lot of credit. The Vikings are a dynamic, multi-faceted, and very capable team, and both Kyle and Mike obviously spent a lot of time figuring out exactly how to exploit their limited weaknesses. As everyone saw in the first quarter, those plans clearly did not work. So what was really impressive, is how they were able to scrap their original gameplan, or utilize previously prepared backup plans and adjust in order to take it to the Vikings throughout the second and third quarter. Clearly, they were helped out by Griffin, Williams, and Lorenzo Alexander's stellar play, but the whole coaching staff deserves a ton of credit for that win.

Good game. Big plays mostly went against the VIKES.

Whether the VIKES go 12-4 or 6-10 will depend upon thier RED ZONE offense. vs 49's it was great. vs the Lions we got lucky with 2 STeam TD's. It came back to haunt us here.

I would have gone for the TD on the first and maybe third drive like he did against the 49's.

Not having Simpson hurt, but not so much the RED ZONE.

Not so worried about the big RGIII run. On the previous 3rd down the VIKES totally sold out to stop the short gain. Like most 3-1 that are crucial or 4-1 the first line of defense is the only line of defense and if you break it your gone. It was a good play call the VIKES sold out for the sack and all in tight coverage and good execution by the skins.

I hope they bounce back against the Cards.

I love my VIKES but I had them going 6-4 into the bye and 8-8 with worse case year being 6-10 and best case year being 12-4.

Best case had them 9-1 going into the bye, so much for that, but I love my VIKES .

This year it truly look like on any given Sunday...
