A few seasons ago when Lewis was out with an injury the Ravens went undefeated in those games because players stepped up - and that was with Lewis playing closer to his prime. These days he is much easier to replace on the field, but they'll still have his presence on the sidelines FWIW. In fact, a faster middle LB might solve their edge problems because they won't have to cover Lewis as much. Losing Pagano to Indy, and Webb to another blown knee are more lethal blows to their defense than Lewis at this point. DC Dean Pees is in over head and Webb is the only top tier performer they have in the entire secondary roster. Reed and the rest are average to below average. Suggs coming back will help, but he can't compensate for Maddison Ver 2.0 in Pees.

Lewis has been with the team since it began in 1996. No, you don't have to be a senior citizen to be a lifelong fan of any team and that isn't what I said. All I said was it doesn't have the same ring to it. Can't you agree to any off-hand comment? The Steelers D is old and you rarely hear a fan deny that, yet Ravens fans are annoyed when anyone says Lewis is old. For his position - it's like dog years - he's old. I hope the ravens vs steelers rivalry remains rabid, as probably the fans of both teams want that. Hines Ward will be hated in Balto for eternity. And most Steelers fans appreciate that.

If I were a Ravens fan I would be more concerned about their QB who has yet to prove he can win the big game. Oh as the commentators say, he's finally developed. Yeah it's only taken him almost 6 years to be mentioned and he still can't win a championship. AS for your bellyaching about injuries??? What a laugher, the Steelers finished the last game with 0 replacement linemen, 1 running back, two all pros off the defense and all of their top draft picks have been out for the year thus far or have been injures half of the time. They have actually had two all pros out of every game on defense. YOu guys are missing suggs and your d is struggling. You guys have a couple good years where you split and luckily swept once. You've been getting your asses handed to you for years. Get REAL. And as far as your great defense, who finished number 1 last year and most of the years before that. POSERS- It will be sad to miss RAY RAYS TRIBAL dances before each game. What a show boat. He's too skinny he can't stop the run anymore. Should have kept his weight on.
The best thing about the Ravens are their acquisitions at wide receiver. Those two can play. Now all you need is HERMAN MUNSTER TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP:)

Only time will tell if this will end Lewis' year and (likely) career. As a life-long Steelers fan, I have to admit that games between these two teams are the Games of the Year - every year.

It's sad, but inevitable that players retire, on their own or through injury, sometimes.

Best of luck to Ray Lewis - he is the heart and soul of the Ravens. He made that team great. Without Ray Lewis, there would have been to Ravens D these last 17 years.

I thought the Steelers were the only ones getting old? Giving up 200 yards a game on the ground? The Ravens have been lucking out by pulling out the w's.
That will end soon enough.
See Ya later Ray Ray. Not sad to see u go!!!

Example? I doubt you'll find anything like Stiller43 or steelersownyou. Even ravenator doesn't celebrate injuries. And WTF does "round they fingers" mean?

Triceps are 3 muscles, how many did he tear ? one of 3 ? 2 of three. ? We need more info here. The small head of the tricep is not a major muscle. It would hurt like heck to get hit, but he could still play with it, he doesn't need it to throw a pass.. Man up children, this is Ray we talking about., not a baseball player with a hang nail.
I'm a Gmen fan, but always liked a nasty Raven Defense , reminds me of the Taylor, Banks, Carson years.

Somehow, being a lifelong Ravens fan (they’ve only been around 17 years) just doesn’t have the same ring to it as being a lifelong Giants or Steelers fan (possibly 80+ years).
And Lewis “owning” the Steelers? Out of 35 games, Steelers have won 21. That’s hardly owning them

Didn't realize you had to be a senior citizen to be a lifelong fan. I'm sure there is a 17 year old Steelers fan out there who would say the same thing. The team's history is the warm blanket Steelers fans huddle under to remind themselves that the 2012 version of their team sucks. See ya in November. Signed,

Team allegiances aside, Ray Lewis is one of the reasons I love football. Dude brings it every play. I'm a Patriots fan, but should we get another crack at the Ravens this year without Ray, it will not be the same.

FYI Ravens fans - Pats went through the same thing as Rodney Harrison, Tedy Bruschi, and other got old and injuries pushed them into retirement. As you saw today while Russell Freakin Wilson was lighting us up, we still haven't fully recovered

I agree as a Steeler fan, we want to face the Ravens with everyone being healthy but by the time we meet up you would have to expect injuries are going to pile up. The AFC as a whole is awful this season. Up until tonight the Texans looked like the dominate team. Baltimore is worst 5-1 team ever (barely beating KC and dump clock management by Cowboys). AFC East teams are all 3-3, Bengals are 3-3, if Denver beats SD monday night they will both be 3-3 and everyone else is under .500. Come on 7-9 or 8-8 playoff teams and possibly division winner haha. NFC is the dominate conference so far.

The man is a great football player and a motivator. One of the best who has ever played the game and I hope he can come back from this injury.

Interesting that before the game today he was leading his team in a pre-game chant to fire them up and he said "we need to knock somebody out" during the game. This is the way football players talk. They fire themselves out by talking this way. The Ravens did not take the field with an "intent to injure" but a literal reading of the statement sure could infer that they wanted to knock somebody out. I am sure Roger Goodell will see it the way Ray Lewis meant the statement, as a way to fire up his teammates. After all, he doesn't play for the Saints.

I'm beginning to think that the AFC North has suddenly turned into the AFC West in that a 9-7 or an 8-8 record might win the division...
After Thursday night and before Sunday, I wouldn't have given the Steelers a snowball's chance of beating the Ravens this season. Now... well, my opinion has changed.
Things have just gotten interesting between the Ravens, Steelers and Bengals, with the Browns playing the spoilers.

Husky2score,

Hey steelers fans, how about showing respect to the nfl’s best linebacker. Sure he has owned you but Ray Lewis is greater than any player on your team. And if “Oh he maybe killed somebody, so he’s bad” is what you will say, that was 10 years ago, and he is a better man and example for all athletes.

How trashed are you right now to post that?
