It might not be the last bad news of the day for the Ravens, but it is the first.

Ravens cornerback Lardarius Webb will miss the rest of the season after tests confirmed he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun.

Webb signed a $50 million contract this offseason, and deals a huge blow to a defense that doesn’t need more. He tore his right ACL as a rookie and came back, so at least he knows the trials of rehab well.

The injury forces former first-rounder Jimmy Smith into the starting lineup opposite Cary Williams.

The Ravens are also awaiting tests on linebacker Ray Lewis, which could be another huge hit if his triceps injury is as bad as feared.
