Trade deadline isn’t tomorrow

Last year at this time, the NFL was on the eve of the annual trade deadline.  This year, the trade deadline has been moved, from the Tuesday after Week Six to the Tuesday after Week Eight.

As usual, any significant trade activity likely will be deferred until the new moment at which the clock strikes 12 on doing deals.

The league decided to postpone the deadline in order to promote additional movement.  The movement will hinge largely on any injuries that may happen in the next two weekends of games.

Last year, a Week Six broken collarbone suffered by former Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell sparked a frenetic effort to pry “retired” quarterback Carson Palmer away from the Bengals.  If it happened one week later, the Raiders wouldn’t have had that option.

I hope Ted Thompson comes to his senses and trades Jermichael Finley at the deadline. Packers would be just fine with Quarless, Crabtree, Williams and Taylor at TE.

I wonder the Raiders regret it?

Couldn’t had any of a # of better QB’s in this year’s draft if they had waited.

This is why you don’t let GMs/Coaches on their way out make long term decisions for your team. Palmer was acquired because Jackson knew he was gone after the season without the playoffs. He didn’t care about next season or the year after that. He only cared about remaining employeed for 1 more year.

Hue Jackson is an embarrassment. Just an NFL coach impersonator.
