Last year at this time, the NFL was on the eve of the annual trade deadline. This year, the trade deadline has been moved, from the Tuesday after Week Six to the Tuesday after Week Eight.
As usual, any significant trade activity likely will be deferred until the new moment at which the clock strikes 12 on doing deals.
The league decided to postpone the deadline in order to promote additional movement. The movement will hinge largely on any injuries that may happen in the next two weekends of games.
Last year, a Week Six broken collarbone suffered by former Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell sparked a frenetic effort to pry “retired” quarterback Carson Palmer away from the Bengals. If it happened one week later, the Raiders wouldn’t have had that option.
