Foremost, the topic here is: Who should be talking. Millen as a communicator/analyst has pretty well established himself as utter crap (not to mention a bit of a punk@ss *itch that would lead one to turn the volume down).

What in the WORLD are you talking about? Separate Millen’s GM tenure away from his playing days and a broadcaster. He has EVERY BIT of reason for criticism, especially after Willis was ABSENT Sunday.

As a player Millen benefited from being a part of the best franchise the game has scene. That’s what got him his rings; a decent player in that system, he made the pro-bowl once.

Willis is nowhere near benefiting from being a part of a system that is better than the contemporaries. Nevertheless, the guy could be nicknamed Mr. Probowl–and, in case you’re not paying attention–he is an outstanding team player. No lesser a d-back than Mike Singletary declared ahead of time his confidence that the guy was going to be superior to the rest one day.

Back to who should be talking–and as I indicated in my lead-in–Willis’ response is more on the mark than Millen’s. Millen, who on the one hand, used hyperbole to criticize defensive play, shot wide of the target. On the other hand, Willis referring to a talking head as if he didn’t know who he was just shows that–in addition to being a superior player–he also has a better grasp on the finer implications of language than Millen does.

Name the teams Millen got rings with. Cause he doesn’t have 4. If anything he has 3 at most.

He moved to the 9ers and got ONE.

Now I agree that Millen was a solid Linebacker in his day, but Ray Lewis is >>>>>>>> than Millen and Lewis is the Cat that Willis should be rightfully compared to. Willis is better than Lewis at the same point in their careers but not by much.

I’m sure that Willis knows who Millen is. Just the game has moved on talentwise since Millen was a Player.

That said, I was at the game in my Giants Blue #80 watching my Giants, run a clinic on how to beat the 49ers. I’m sure the Seahawks are champing at the bit to play the niners on Thursday. The blueprint is out there now.

Here’s another point. Coach Harbaugh had a lot of success but now, the Giants lost the first meeting (barely on what should have been a holding call on the last play of the game) then the Championship game, and now this. The Giants made adjustments half way through the first meeting last year and almost pulled it out. The Giants learned from the Championship game in that they couldn’t let Eli take a pounding. So what happened? Pound the ball right at the niners. It eventually worked. Eli was hit once and it should have been flagged. The entire league is now up to speed on what to expect from Harbaugh. It’s a new game boys. Get used to it.

I’m pretty sure Willis was nothing more than an egg waiting to be fertilized when Millen won those Super Bowls…. so I’m pretty sure Millen wins that argument… period.

Millen said, “Those two have never played a worse game together.”

Willis responded, “You don’t know what you’re talking about, we’ve played far worse than that.”

All Willis had to do was say, “Yeah, we didn’t play well.”

Matt Millen HAS done everything you’re doing and did it at a high level for his whole career, so you want to question him about what he saw on film, that’s fine, but Millen is justly qualified to critique your play. Don’t dis him because you don’t know the history of your position in football…

And one more thing Willis doesn’t have Montana or young back there. If our offense stays on the field longer on Sunday and didn’t turn the freaking ball over three times or go three and out the second half I bet the giants don’t run so well on a rested NINERS defense no excuses here we live by our scheme and die by our scheme but don’t ever compare Millen to Willis and Bowman our two every down LB’s.

That’s called making excuses. Why didn’t your vaunted defense just get the ball back. Interception, fumble, 3 and out, you know, like that? Oh wait, they were tired from NOT STOPPING THE GIANTS.

However, to say Millen was better than Willis because he had the luxury of being on 4 Superbowl winning team doesn’t make sense. It’s like Trent Dilfer critising Dan Marino.

Willis is already twice the player Millen ever was. A 3 down LB that plays the run well, defends the pass (TE) and can even rush the passer.

Willis specifically said “I doubt he would be able to consistently play at a high level as Bowman and I do”, not “I think he’s a lousy talent evaluator”.

Willis made a comment based upon a stunning level of ignorance of the history of the game he plays for a living, and he is 100% dead wrong in his comments.
