Patriots to wear throwbacks Sunday against Jets

AP

The Patriots announced they’d wear their throwback uniforms Sunday against the Jets, taking them back to a less-stylized, more patriotic time.

With red jerseys and helmets with “Pat Patriot” on the side, they’re going back to the ‘80s for a week.

They beat the Jets last year wearing them as well, and the team pointed out that they’re 8-3 in throwbacks all-time.

Of course, they’re 198-142 (.717) under Bill Belichick, so they’d probably have a pretty good record if they were wearing Vera Wang.

  1. Soon to be 9-3 in the throwbacks.

Hightower should be back this week which will help the run defense as this week Mark Sanchise comes to Foxborough off his explosive 82 yards passing performance last week.I’m expecting another Patriots blow out !

  2. Steve Grogan. Andre Tippett. Dan Hasselback. Mosi Tatupu.

I’d have said “Tony Eason”, but I’m trying to be positive here.

  3. the pats under BB are 158-62, including playoffs. try fact checking or get a better calculator.

  4. Zero influence on their game plan. I therefore could care less.
Pick it up boys. My FF team needs the points

  5. Sorry, but I don’t think your math is right…even counting playoffs, they have lost fewer than 60 games with BB as the head coach. Maybe that’s Belichick’s all-time record for both the Browns and the Pats, but not the Pats only.

My count has them 130-52 in the regular season since 2000 (including the 3 and 3 start this year). I may be off by a game or two, but definitely not almost 100!

  6. Belichicks reg season record before “spygate”:

    75-39 (reg season record) .657 win %

Belichicks regular season record after “spygate”:
67-18 (reg season record) .788 win % (that includes the Tom Brady-less 2008 team)

They havent had the post season success (in terms of rings), that cant be disputed, but do you really think that video taping is the reason they were winning, when the winning percentage is significantly higher after they got “caught”. I dont know about you, but I will .788 any day. You could argue that the cameras actually helped their opponents, hahaha, but seriously, pointing to the cameras as the end all be all is looking more and more foolish every season

  7. you wouldn’t guess that these are two 3-3 teams meeting… with all the hype around pats and all the circus around jets… i am hoping pats will handle jets…

  8. Those Throwbacks are on of the nicest Unis in the NFL.

I am a GIANTS fan and I love our uniforms, but I also really like the old Pats uniform, the old Broncos Unis, and the best ones are the old Rams uniforms. The Throwback Rams Unis (Of the 80s/90s) are beautiful.

The Raiders and Chargers also have good unis as well.

  9. Switch to these full-time, please. I’ve never bought a hat or shirt with flaming Elvis on the side, regardless of their success in their boring, new-age unis.

    C’mon, Bill. Go old school.

thank god….patriots have the ugliest uniforms in the league. ugly max headroom logo

Sorry bro, the Broncos and the Titans are FAR worse than the Patriots’ normal duds. Denver should get rid of that hideous donkey head on the side of their helmets and replace it with a picture of Elway, screaming “HEEE-YAAAAAAW!” Wait, maybe that’s what they have already?

The Patriots’ throwbacks are THE best uni’s in football, bar none. They should absolutely go back to them 100%. One of the classics that is absolutely timeless.

  11. Brady needs to wear the Grogan Neck Roll!!!

And we’d need snow and a snow plow…

Much prefer the old uni’s to those New Millennia US Postal Service uni’s…

And can we call them the Boston Patriots again, already?

  12. I love those old uniforms, they bring back memories.

I used to love watching Steve Grogan play, dude had grapefruit sized balls.

  13. This Sunday is Tebow power. The Patriots want na use the no huddle, good, have fun.. The Jets will use it to with Tebow. We’ll give them some Tebow. This time the The Patriots won’t Tebow, like they did in the playoffs at Denver.

    Harry
    Go Jets. TEBOW POWER
