I agree with most everything you said, except for your final sentence. If someone like the Giants or the Bears have to go to Atlanta in the second round of the playoffs, I could definitely see the Falcons laying another egg in their own home stadium again. I’ve been pretty down on Matt Ryan for most of his career, but he’s made me shut up this season. Still, the Falcons are not invincible despite their 6-0 record so far.

What happens to players when they’re too old and slow? They get injured a lot.

I hate that phrase because it’s false. All opponents are not the same. What if a team plays the Chiefs, Browns, and Jaguars to start the season 3-0? Do they get to claim they are better than a team that went 2-1 versus the 49ers, Giants, and Texans? After all, you are what your record says, right?

It would be false if it were the NCAA, but it’s the NFL – any team can beat any team on any given Sunday.

If you absolutely destroy the Chiefs, Browns and Jags and go 3-0 while the other team beats the 49ers, Giants, and loses to the Texans, the 3-0 is absolutely better. Because it’s not about perception, it’s about reality and the reality is 3-0 is better than 2-1.
