Getty ImagesThere was once a time when being compared to Michael Vick would have been a good thing for Robert Griffin III.
But that time is not this year, which has opponents on notice.
Giants safety Antrel Rolle emphasized that the Redskins rookie was a “different” player than Vick, and in the current context, that means better.
While Vick keeps turning it over left and right for the Eagles, Griffin leads the league in completion percentage, is third in passer rating and has six rushing touchdowns.
“I haven’t watched too much film on RG3 yet. I’ve just seen highlights and this, that and the other,” Rolle on WFAN, via the Newark Star-Ledger. “But, of course, they’re different. They’re two totally different quarterbacks and I think that their game as far as their offensive approach is extremely different. RGIII, as you know, he can run the ball. I think he runs the ball a lot more than Michael Vick. I mean, he’s a fast guy.
“He has a very, very strong arm and I think he’s an all-around quarterback and he’s going to get better with time.”
The one similarity that will remain (until it doesn’t) is durability.
Griffin responded well last week after missing a game with a concussion, and it’ll be interesting to see if he begins to protect himself over the years, a lesson Vick really hasn’t learned.
