Texans safety Danieal Manning was at the bottom of a pile during Sunday’s game against the Packers, and he didn’t enjoy having Packers offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse on top of him. So Manning started swinging.
That turned out to be costly for the Texans, as Manning picked up a personal foul penalty, and costly for Manning, who was fined $15,000 for punching Newhouse.
Manning said afterward that he was upset because Newhouse was lying on top of him and not getting up, but that he went over and apologized to Newhouse afterward.
“I was hating on him at that moment,” Manning told the Houston Chronicle. “But it’s over. Things like that happen all the time in games.”
And when things like that happen, 15-yard penalties and $15,000 fines are the result.
