Wednesday’s edition of Pro Football Talk on NBC Sports Network will have a defensive feeling to it.

A defensive end feeling, to put it more precisely.

Erik Kuselias will talk to Cliff Avril of the Lions and Mario Williams of the Bills during the show. Avril and the Lions are coming off a big comeback win against the Eagles and will be trying to even their record on Monday night against the Bears. That’ll be part of the conversation with Avril, who can become a free agent after the season.

Williams was a free agent this offseason and his arrival in Buffalo was met with excitement that has dissipated as Williams’ play hasn’t quite lived up to expectations. Williams has cited a wrist injury as part of the reason for his struggles, so we’ll find out how that’s feeling heading into Week Seven.

Mike Florio, Shaun King and Pete Najarian will also be on board to bring you the latest from around the league on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

It all kicks off at 5 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network.

  1. As long as Mario was a Texan, year after year there was always some injury that seemed to keep him from being the defensive force everyone hoped he would be. Now he’s with the Bills, and look at that…another injury to be used as a convenient rationale to explain unmet expectations.

You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone in Houston who didn’t see this coming. The Bills clearly didn’t vet Mario Williams sufficiently enough. They bought into the name and an expectation, not his actual year to year performance.

See if you can find out if there was any discrepancy between Mario’s ‘injury’ and what the Bills actually reported on the weekly injury report.
