Simpson should earn his extra money this week

Vikings receiver Jerome Simpson isn’t happy with the fact that a leg injury got him deactivated for Sunday’s loss to the Redskins, costing the wideout nearly $60,000 in per-game roster bonuses.

He’s more likely to be happy on Sunday.  Simpson appeared on the first injury report of the week as fully participating in practice with a back injury.

Missing practice for the Vikings was running back Adrian Peterson, who is battling an ankle problem.  Coach Leslie Frazier told reporters on Wednesday that Peterson should be fine for Sunday against the Cardinals.

Limited in practice were defensive end Jared Allen (groin), cornerback Antoine Winfield (knee), safety Mistral Raymond (ankle), linebacker Marvin Mitchell (calf), and safety Robert Blanton (hamstring).

Also fully participating in practice was quarterback Christian Ponder, who has a lingering knee issue as he embarks on his 17th career start, against the first team he ever beat.

  1. Only a prima donna sports star would be unhappy about losing money that was never his in the first place. How ungrateful.

Sorry for the inconvenience of not being 100% perfect for you.

  2. Simpson is just another member on the long list of overpaid loser free agent acquisitions made by the Vikings over the years. Learn how to draft already!

15 of the Vikings starters were drafted in the last 7 years. 5 others Vikings draft picks are playing for other teams, and 3 of them are starting, to the best of my knowledge. 2 other Vikings starters (Williams and Greenway) were also Vikings picks.

That leaves Johnson, Felton, whoever is starting opposite Harvin, Allen, and Winfield. I’d say Allen and Winfield have worked out just fine. Johnson and Felton appear to be serviceable and worth their price. And the track record for any team signing a FA WR without throwing $50 mil at them is not very good.

Put a little thought into what you are posting already….

  4. I would like to see the Vikes limit Adrian to as few carries as possible Sunday, to give his ankle some rest. Gerhart could use the work, and is healthy. Vikings look to had excellent Drafts the past few years. Many said Ponder (12th) was drafted way to early, except Newton(1), Locker(8), Gabbert(10) in the 2011 Draft have not done as well this year….
