Roethlisberger leaves practice with ankle injury

Pittsburgh Steelers v Tennessee Titans Getty Images

As the Steelers prepare for what could be the closest thing to a must-win game they’ll ever play in the month of October, they have another injured player.

Ben Roethlisbeger.

Ever heard of him?

According to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Roethlisberger left practice early with an ankle injury.  Afterward, Roethlisberger said he rolled his ankle when stepping on another ankle.

Per Kaboly, Roethlisberger looked fine.  Of course, that likely won’t stop Ben from conjuring up a little drama.

The 3-3 Bengals host the 2-3 Steelers on Sunday night.  That’s enough drama without a real or embellished Roethlisberger injury.

Ben is better when he plays with an injury.

    Steelers 35-3

    Big Ben, embellish an injury?

You mean like the time he told reporters his toe was broke and it was just jammed?

Don’t get me wrong Ben is tough, but he tries so hard to act like he plays through more than he does.

How about Phillip Rivers playing on a torn ACL. Thats tough. Difference is, other QB’s arent dieing for the drama that Ben is.

LOL @ Embellished injuries? The fractured finger? The broken nose? The high ankle sprain? I guess the motorcycle accident was embellished to huh?

  4. FoozieGrooler says: Oct 18, 2012 3:37 PM

Considering there hasn’t been a peep out of him about it, it seems the only drama being stirred up, is by you.

  5. ialwayswantedtobeabanker says: Oct 18, 2012 3:40 PM

Let me guess, Marcus Gilbert was likely involved – probably stumbling off balance in any of 7 directions.

Who cares. Steelers suck. They will be fighting for 3rd in afcn

I heard he was in a wheel chair hooked up to an I.V. and a priest was giving him his last rites.

Ben Roethlisbeger? Never heard of him.

I was just thinking about the Steelers woes & they hadn’t even lost Ben to injury yet. Honestly, w/ the Div III offensive line they have left (after injuries), Todd Haley should be taken out & shot if he doesn’t have Ben do a 3-step drop on about 90% of his snaps this week.

Glad to see I’m not the only one that thinks Ben’s toughness is unnecessarily hyped up by his whining.

Other difference, Rivers can suck with or without a torn ACL. Ben rules.

Everyone in the NFL is injured. Big Ben likes to make himself out to be the hero because he plays through them. I actually believe he is a tough dude, but he also loves the attention.

  17. td30 says: Oct 18, 2012 3:56 PM

is he going to wear two different colored shoes again to remind everyone he’s playing through an injury?

for the millions these guys make, they couldnt get China to make a size bigger in black?

  18. ac540 says: Oct 18, 2012 3:57 PM

The Drama Queen got jealous at all of the injuries on his own team and those on the Ravens, so it was time for something to happen to him.

  19. johntonioholmes says: Oct 18, 2012 3:58 PM

He and Ed Reed and such drama queens.

  20. steelersownyou says: Oct 18, 2012 4:00 PM

Toughest QB in the league by far! And a 95% chance he is better than your favorite teams QB. Ya him hobbling out in 2nd half of browns game is embellished. And ngata breaking bens nose was embellished. No tougher ive seen in decades. Hate all you want. All he does is appear in super bowls and win games! Thank god we have him. He has bin a huge reason for the steelers afc dominance for years!!

  21. yeeeeeep says: Oct 18, 2012 4:01 PM

Hypochondriac Drama Queen…limps into the huddle, sprints for the first down, limps back to the huddle…REALLY. I guess it give the announcers something to talk about

  22. spungy says: Oct 18, 2012 4:15 PM

He needs to play so Dunlap can get to him.

  23. Nofoolnodrool says: Oct 18, 2012 4:16 PM

The dude maybe a drama queen, but he has two nice SB rings you don’t have. Nuff said!

  24. jameskucinski says: Oct 18, 2012 4:24 PM

I don’t understand why everyone calls Ben a drama queen. What has he done to earn this title? If anything, he cries the least out of any quarterback (on the field). He stands up for his O-line where others would cry about them and he plays through more injuries than anyone. I guess people just love to hate.

  25. Deb says: Oct 18, 2012 4:27 PM

Roethlisberger has played following well-documented injuries. I don’t know if that makes one a drama queen, but saying so is good for those who make money off his name, isn’t it?

  26. trollaikman8 says: Oct 18, 2012 4:32 PM

    Really dude?
I’m not a Bengals fan, but they have averaged 24.8 points per game.

So, really.. why do you post something silly like the Steelers will hold them to 3 points?

I guess you handle pretty much reflects your wisdom…

Acting like he can barely walk then running down the field like nothing’s wrong.
If you can run full speed, you are fine. No need to hobble around between plays except to draw attention to yourself and be a drama queen.

  29. joemammy says: Oct 18, 2012 4:59 PM

Maybe this time he’ll remember which ankle to favor when the cameras are on.

  30. ziggy26 says: Oct 18, 2012 5:03 PM

It’s about time. We were five games into the season and Roethlisberger didn’t have an injury to talk about. I was wondering what the heck was going on.

  31. kremis says: Oct 18, 2012 5:08 PM

I heard he slipped coming out of the bathroom……if ya know what I mean!!! I know it was along time ago squealer fans, but the writer set it up so well.

  32. Chargers have no rings says: Oct 18, 2012 5:12 PM

I thought he slipped while chasing some young girl down the hallway with his junk hanging out

  33. tell says: Oct 18, 2012 5:13 PM

Thing about all the people lobbing pot shots about Roethlisberger and a turned ankle…if any one of you turned your ankle at work, 95% of you would call off the next day with a sick day.

Ben will be back at practice and participate on that bad ankle tomorrow while you whiners would be eating ibuprofen like candy and watching Honey Boo Boo like it’s educational TV,

  34. numberonesteelerhater says: Oct 18, 2012 5:19 PM

He can embellish the injury to his pride if he loses this week.

It was wearing a sock that said “down to sprain”

  40. theravens1 says: Oct 18, 2012 6:32 PM

I’ve seen him play – he don’t need no stinking ankles! It seems they aren’t necessary – last year I didn’t think he’d walk for weeks!! They’ll just tape his feet to his legs and in he goes!! Unbelievable!!

  41. t8ertot says: Oct 18, 2012 6:42 PM

    Bengals win big

  42. jr4real says: Oct 18, 2012 6:46 PM

Ben is a drama queen but there are 4-5 teams that wouldnt kill to have him on their team. And no SD and Baltimore are not those teams. Please dont pretend you would have Flacco or Rivers instead.

  43. annes22 says: Oct 18, 2012 7:27 PM

Bengals win nothing, even with a hurt Ben. Beware a hurt Ben. He plays hurt all the time, and it doesn’t seem to bother him.

  46. steelcityfinest13 says: Oct 18, 2012 8:06 PM

T.O= drama queen and his has been buddy ocho no no thats the real definition of drama queen

  47. jeffa43 says: Oct 18, 2012 8:18 PM

Fun to watch… That can’t be denied.

  48. captainloaded says: Oct 18, 2012 8:35 PM

Please read what Byron Leftwich had to say. You’ll get so much more info than cynicism. Ben said he’d be ok, he wasn’t looking for drama.

  49. voyager6 says: Oct 18, 2012 9:20 PM

I hear the Steeler docs are “real good”. Big Ben won’t feel no pain.

  50. Andre's Johnson says: Oct 18, 2012 9:53 PM

Too bad he didn’t leave that rape with an injury.

  51. jameskucinski says: Oct 18, 2012 10:44 PM

OK… people are saying he’s a drama queen because he limps off the field but sprints during plays. Well, I played football in high school and quite a bit with my buddies at full tackle. I got banged up quite a few times to the point that I limped or just grimaced in agony. But when the play was on, that pain disapears because you play through it. Apparently no one seems to know what that’s like but even still, I think some of these people need to look up the definition of a drama queen.

  52. roddytorock84 says: Oct 19, 2012 12:23 AM

Am I the only one that realizes its always before a big game he is “injured”
