Titans eye Week Eight for Jake Locker’s return

The Tennessee Titans have decided on Matt Hasselbeck as their Week Seven starting quarterback against the Buffalo Bills, but vow to remain committed to upstart youngster Jake Locker when he gets healthy. Locker has twice dislocated his left (non-throwing) shoulder since the start of the season.

On Wednesday, Locker returned to the practice field in limited fashion. He made some throws in individual and seven-on-seven drills, and coach Mike Munchak believes Locker has a “great chance” to be ready against the Indianapolis Colts in Week Eight.

It was good to see him,” Munchak said following Wednesday’s practice, per Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean. “It was what we hoped he’d be able to handle. Now it is a matter of how sore he gets and giving him more to do.”

Munchak laid to rest any questions about Locker’s status atop the depth chart, when healthy.

“If [Locker] is ready to play next week, there wouldn’t be any doubt that he’d be the guy playing.”

The Titans are 2-4. They’ll look to rally back to .500 in upcoming games against the 3-3 Bills and 2-3 Colts.
