Giants activate Chris Canty, expect him to play vs. Redskins

Giants defensive tackle Chris Canty is ready for his 2012 debut.

Canty was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list on Saturday after missing the first six weeks of the season with a knee injury, and the New York Daily News reports that Canty is expected to play against the Redskins on Sunday.

Although Canty expressed some doubts this week about his ability to play on Sunday, Giants coach Tom Coughlin said he thought the combination of Canty and Linval Joseph would give the Giants an excellent pair of defensive tackles to put up against Robert Griffin III and Co.

“He gives us an outstanding veteran player inside to go along with Linval,” Coughlin said. “He’s tall, he’s rangy, he gets his hands up in the air and bats balls down. He is a good pass rusher. He’s anxious to play.”

The Giants have also announced that they placed running back Da’Rel Scott on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury.

It’s not going to matter. The Redskins are going to win.

This guy will go into the HOF for his epic facemask designs…

RG111, will have a 6’7 317lb DT with tree-like arms in his face, ha, this dude above says “it won’t matter”, now that’s funny!
One of the biggest reasons the giants went to the SB last year, was Canty/Joesph’s/Bernard’s PUSH up the middle, RG, were not the Vikings, have fun, ha, THE CT GIANT.

Nice. Canty will help. He was awesome during the super bowl run last season. What Coughlin said. Go Blue.

lifelong redskins fan here, and married to a fkn giants fan, which means tomorrow’s gonna be a good day in our household. but i digress. while i think it’s more likely to be a shootout than a blowout, i have a hard time seeing the skins walking away with a win.

Giants fan and I have a hard time seeing the giants walking away with a win, so there’s that. This is the game they never fail to play 100x worse than they are and down to whatever level of competition their opponent is at, granted the skins aren’t too much worse this season either. Should be a good game, but I fully expect the giants to play trbl, D line doing nothing, blown secondary coverage, picks by Eli and a fumble or two, it literally never fails and RGIII is too good to make all those mistakes and still win.

    Hey CTGiant,
We beat you last year with him twice. Chris Canty, WOW. We’re really shaking in our boots

This is huge for the Giants defense. He will probably only play 50% of the snaps but just gives us an extra body.

In past years I would be concerned about a let down but the Giants know they can’t drop to 0-3 in the division. Should bea great game and I look for the Giants to pull this one out.

I have a hard time reading stuff like this from a so called Giants fan.Let’s have a heart to heart Giants fan to Giants fan. It’s obvious you just started this week tuning into this season.Had you started from week 1, you would realize that Eli is playing MVP type football and our offense is unstoppable. Not to mention the horrific secondary we’re facing Sunday,Eli will pick them apart.Nicks, Cruz, Hixon, and Bennett will be a mismatch one on one.All we need is for the running game to be servicable.Canty will be huge for our D-line.RG3 will see pressure like non before. Our secondary has been surprisingly solid with very few if any blown assignments the last 3 weeks.0-2 in the division is just as motivating as being considered the under dog.Bottom line is with our schedule, if you are not all in every week then go be a Jets fan cause you will not be missed!Go Blue!!!!

The scheme seems to favor the Redskins in that the Giants employ somewhat slow LB’s known to stack and shed for stopping the run. I think Boley is out and they continue to be a bit thin with DB’s. Giants line is stout, but vulnerable to the stretch runs. If I recall the Redskins had a RB run for over 100 yds in both games last year. With RGIII things will be even more interesting.

If the Reskins defense holds the Giants to 24 or less points, I think the Redskins will win their third straight contest between the two.

Nobody expects YOU to be shaking. You won’t be playing.

Good news for Canty and for the Defense. They played excellent last week. Hope they remember last year and what the Redskins did to them twice. This game has “payback” written all over it (I hope). And yes, it can be a revenge game because the Skins beat the Giants in the regular season, not in the post season.

    bluebag,
Maybe you slept through last season. Giants went up to New England and hung a big upset on the Pats and celebrated afterwards. Then they lost their next four games.

The won the first elimination game against the Cowboys week 14 on two Manning TD drives in the last five and a half minutes. You’d think that that would get them rolling again. So the next two weeks they sleep through the Redskin came and the first half of the Jet game. Cruz’ 99 yard TD catch probably saved the season.

I think that they will beat the ‘Skins cause Washington has the worst pass defense in the league and Manning, Nicks, and Cruz should shred them. But I ain’t certain what kind of team they are this year yet.

Love you Foreskin fans living on your “we won both last week”………..yes you did. And that was the entirety of your season’s accomplishment. We on the other hand won the Super Bowl. So I’ll take losing to your pathetic, irrelevant franchise if a Super Bowl is the alternative.

I love the “We beat you twice last year..” comments. Who won the division, destroyed the NFC Super Bowl favorites, and went on to win the big game?

You beat us twice.. that’s two wins. *golf clap*

  18. giantwin5 says: Oct 21, 2012 1:05 AM

Redskins fans are a joke. You beat us twice last year? Congrats!!! We won the Super Bowl. You know that thing that is a teams main goal every year? Guess you guys must have forgot. Its been so long since you’ve been there.

Canty hasn’t done a thing since he left Dallas. If he does play, expect him to join the ranks of the Minnesota linebacker last week who was caught by NFL films telling his D coordinator “I’m lost…I don’t know what they’re doing”.
A diverse scheme incorporating a multitude of offensive philosophies run by a QB the like of which the NFL has never seen…Skins win.
