Saints will activate Vilma for Sunday

Saints tight end Jimmy Graham won’t be playing on Sunday against the Bucs.  But linebacker Jonathan Vilma could be.

A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Saints will be adding Vilma to the active roster on Saturday, a necessary prerequisite to his ability to play on Sunday.

Vilma spent the first six weeks of the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list.  If he plays, his season could still be limited.

With a hearing on his suspension for the balance of the season set for Tuesday, October 30, Vilma could be done for the year after next Sunday at Denver.

UPDATE 2:00 p.m. ET:  The Saints have announced the move.  To make room for Vilma on the 53-man roster, the Saints have released receiver Greg Camarillo.

Is that trunk where he stores his bounty money?

I believe Vilma is guilty over the bounties. I am sure many NFL players do also. With that in mind, you have to admire Vilma’s bravery to face up to some guys who may be looking to hurt him over the bounty allegations.

Vilma just won’t accept responsibility. Just sad. He needs to man up and face the consequence.

I saw him in Tampa today while I was at grocery. He was in paper towel aisle with a roll of Bounty.

My understanding is that Curtis Lofton has played just about every down at MLB for the Saints this year and has done ok- if Vilma actually suits up, interested on how/if the Saints use him…..lost amongst all the bounty blarney was that the Saints knew Vilma’s play was declining anyway, and they might have cut him loose in favor of Lofton even if he were healthy and available….this may simply be a ” last hurrah” thing for a player who’s on his way out regardless of what suspensions the league passes down…..

I find it interesting that no NFL player outside the saints* has spoken up for Vilma and Co. It would be karma if Vilma played tomorrow and had to be carted off with the Bucs making fun of him by pretending to “peel off $ from a roll and handing to their teammate”.

I think Vilma has several more seasons in him. He’s a top linebacker when healthy and is better than Lofton in pass coverage.

Why would any decent football player be in Tampon bay, except to beat the bucs? And Fla has a shortage on paper towels, as fans are using them as crying towels.

Vilma’s suppose to knock the opponents senseless. That’s his job. Everyone here posting that he was guilty of some type of NFL rule is just purely a hypocrit. Whether or not he offered money, or received money, it’s his job to hit the opposition as hard as possible, end of discussion. Stick the bounty talk up your ends.

Goodell wants to suspend Vilma on conduct detrimental to the shield by accusing Vilma and the others of circumventing the NFL’s salary cap rules. A cap of about $119 million in 2009 getting circumvented by $10,000 bets. Pure BS.

With the return of bounties maybe the Saints D will look a bit better than trash.

Congrats to Vilma. Going to be great to see him on the field. Hopefully he will be a good spark for the D. Can’t wait to see him play next to Lofton. My guess is that Lofton will play the outside role. Also looking for Harper to be in the box a lot. Going to be good.

Because they’re all happy that it’s happening to someone else. You’ve heard a lot of offensive players coming out against the Saints bounty B.S., not many defensive players hmmmm..

and to the guy that said he saw Vilma with a roll of bounty, you should thank him. The only reason that you get to watch the game is because the Saints fans sold out your pathetic stadium with the poof tube in the fake ship.
