Mr. Wright 212 says: Oct 22, 2012 7:26 PM
He’s still no Frank Gore. He gained yards because of the gimmicky offense, as the Giants were focused on keeping Griffin in the pocket.

Mr. Wright
What you call a gimmicky offense is in 100% of play books – run to the edge or run up the middle.

Watch more football (at any level) you’ll see exactly what I am talking about.
_____
Mr. Wright actually has a point... sort of. Morris' success is in a large part due to Griffin, but the same can be said about any running back. Just because the Redskins and Griffin use some gimmicky plays doesn't make a difference: effective quarterbacks make tailbacks more effective. You could say the same thing about the Giants: that Ahmad Bradshaw is as good as he is because Eli is an accurate passer. Point is that Morris, Bradshaw, Gore, or whoever; would be as effective in Arizona playing with Kolb or in Kansas City playing with Brady Quinn. If you think about it, this is really a testament to the talent of guys like Trent Richardson, Jamaal Charles, and pre-Harbaugh Gore: halfbacks who are able to succeed despite the defense keying in on them every play.

KC fans- for the record, I like Quinn and hope he finally turns it on this year- the kid deserves a fair shot.

Mr. Wright -
I love how you changed your tune on Morris after you were so dismissive of him previously… i.e. “he is no Frank Gore” etc.

It is ok you are allowed to change your mind here – after all you got to see Morris up close tearing it up.

I’ll take my slow footed Eli manning over rg3. He’s a great athlete don’t get me wrong, but the elite quarter backs are the ones that gets the whole offense involved
____
No one's asking you to change loyalties. If you aren't from DC, Eli is one of the best quarterbacks you can ask for. But as for getting the whole offense involved, these are facts:
Griffin connected with eight different receivers and posted a completion percentage of 72, with two touchdowns and one interception.
Eli connected with seven receivers, posting a completion percentage of 65, with one touchdown and two picks.
Meanwhile, five Redskins rushed for 248 net yards and three Giants rushed for 64 net yards.

So, no disrespect to Eli, he played a great game, but don't pretend like just because Griffin is fast on his feet doesn't mean he can't get the whole offense involved.

OSI also said "RG3 is the best qb we've faced all year". That means he's been better then Romo who beat the Giants, better then Vick who beat the Giants, better then Newton who you all seem to want to compare RG3 to, better then Weeden, Smith, and Freeman. One RG3 throws better then Vick ever has, RG3 has extreme accuracy and can make all the throws as a ROOKIE. Two, Newton only played really good in the first 4 games of the season last year, after that he didn't go for over 300 combined yards all season. RG3 has been very consistent. This was his first game with 2 turnovers, and still went for over 300 yards in the game. He doesn't make mistakes such as Romo, Vick, Newton. Hence him having only 5 in 7 games. Anyone who thinks you can compare Vick or Newton to RG3 obviously aren't real football fans, or just don't watch Redskins games. He's clearly a great player, who you can see gets better every game, and you can clearly see the changes he makes. If you don't believe me, just ask the two NFL players that just agreed

This is RG111 rookie year and he is doing great. I dont think the comparason with cam newton is a put down, but tim tebow? Who ever made that was on a 3 day drunk.
Newton lit up the league last year and got all sorts of alcolades, this year he is not doing so well. next year? who knows. I dont think they are comparing ability..newton-griffith.. just rookie year and the next. but who really can say?

Hmm rg3 reminds me of a few quarter backs, let me see um micheal Vick, and how many Super Bowls has he won. Thank u but no thank you... I'll take my slow footed Eli manning over rg3. He's a great athlete don't get me wrong, but the elite quarter backs are the ones that gets the whole offense involved

“Pocket passers win championships. “Athletic” QB’s win media love.”

Guess you never watched Steve Young or John Elway play. Too Bad.
-------------------
I agree with you, Matt. Unfortunately, some people cannot get past Griffin's skin color, so they have to compare him to Vick and Newton, despite the fact that his play resembles neither. Griffin's last TD touch pass today was a thing of beauty, and I dare say, something you'd more likely see from the Mannings or Drew Brees than either Vick nor Newton.

Frankly, Griffin's speed makes him unique to me. He just needs to stay healthy.
