Terrell Suggs starts, shows no signs of rust

AP

Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs is back on the field for the first time since sufferig a torn Achilles tendon during the offseason, and he looks none the worse for wear.

Suggs started in the Ravens’ defense and was on the field for all three plays as the Texans went three-and-out on their first offensive possession. The first two plays were runs in Suggs’ direction, and although Suggs didn’t make the tackle on either play, he held his ground and didn’t get pushed off the ball.

The Texans’ third offensive play was a pass, and Suggs leapt into the air and tried to knock it down, just missing the ball. That leap didn’t look like it came from a guy who’s recovering from a serious injury.

Whether Suggs can hold up for a whole game, or whether he needs some time to get into football shape, remains to be seen. But on the first series, Suggs didn’t look rusty.

UPDATE 1:26 p.m. ET: On his seventh play, Suggs recorded his first sack of the season. Yes, Suggs is back.

  1. Whether one likes this guy or not, one has to admit that his return so soon is amazing. And smart of Balt to use him early since he’s obviously not 100% in shape yet.

  2. Haha another raven injury on o line. And a texan beatdown is in progress!!! 23-3 in a minute!!!

  3. Have to admit, the guy looks pretty good so far. What’s most amazing is how well he’s playing considering how overweight he looks.

  4. Cam Cameron thinks the Ravens are losing by 20 with 2 minutes left in the 4TH QUARTER! Ray Rice + Vontae Leach = 2nd and 6, 3rd and 2. Why do I know this and I’m not qualified for the OC job?

  6. Didnt i tell yall dirty birds ngata banged up and shaky….yall put em in anyway wit dat knee…smh!!! I smell a losing streak brewing!!! Yal betr call management lmmao…..cum on i know yal aint gon stay silent…. say wat yal gon say

  7. The problem is Joe Flaccid is still……Joe Flaccid.

Please hurry up and pay this guy like the elite quarterback he isn’t.

Unfortunately, the AFC North looks like a medical ward at this point. I’m not so sure the team that returns to health the soonest might not win this thing with 10 wins. Unbelievably, that bodes well for the bungles as they seem to be staying relatively healthy.

Never like to see guys go down with injuries. Rolling up on the rookie tackle didn’t not look good. Plus, Ngata limping off the field before the half.

    As the Nest Burns….

    GO STEELERS!

My head hurts from reading this, I’m not a Steeler fan but I’m sure their “finest” can spell better than this.

Turn the game off and read a book.

  9. Glad to see that Suggs is back and appears to be at 100%. The games are just better when he’s playing, this beat-down not withstanding. Welcome back T-sizzle, can’t wait to face you in November!
