Give me a freaking break. I'm a diehard Lions fan and if there's other Lions fans thinking that the Bears' D didn't just beat up on the Lions offense, then they're delusional. They basically owned the Lions O line, shut down CJ and forced the turnovers. Linehan should be fired yesterday, but to say it was all the Lions and cutting short the Bears is wrong. I hate the Bears...loathe the Bears, but they came out ready to play and the Lions came out ready to do whatever it is they seem hell bent on doing this year...which is losing.

You must have been watching a different game. Dropped punts, dropped open passes and fumbles were the mainstays of the Detroit game plan. Play that Bear’s conservative style in a high scoring contest and it will be the Packers winning the NFC North again. (and I am not a Packers fan) Also it looked like the Bears replacement QB (Campbell) was as prepared for his insertion as our hero of last year was (Mr. Hanie) when Cutler was hurt. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat same..

People who are downplaying the Bears offense need to look at what happened in context:

The Bears offense clicked beautifully on their first drive and in the first quarter - it was a balanced attack, with many different players chipping in to convert (Cutler passing, Cutler running, Forte, Bush, Bennett, Hester, Marshall).

Then Cutler took that vicious hit - and by his own admission, couldn't throw the same the rest of the game. So the entire gameplan changed accordingly, and it was smart:

the Bears took a conservative approach, took control on the ground, chewed up clock, avoided the high risk/high reward plays that could've allowed Detroit opportunities to come back into the game, and let their defense do the rest, do what it does best.

Sure, the offense could've played better - but with their QB hampered and hurt, I think they took the smart approach.

Make no mistake about it: the Bears dominated that game in all respects, in all phases. Detroit's d-line got some pressure, sure, but Chicago's offense rushed for almost 200 yards, 6 different players caught passes, and they OWNED the time of possession by almost 10 minutes.

To say one garbage time TD in the final 30 seconds somehow made that game "close" is just a delusional perversion of reality.

The Lions didn't "beat themselves" - the Bears were a better team in all respects, and at NO point did they not have that game thoroughly in hand and under their control.

To suggest anything otherwise makes you sound like whiny excuse-spewing Packer fans.

I know Suh and your coach have set a bad example here - but try to man up and be accountable. Be real.

A win is a win but the Lions handed this game to the Bears on a silver platter. If they play like that against the Vikings , the 49’ers or the Packers they’ll lose 40 to 12. When you have a bad, or even better, a good team on the ropes you’d better learn how to administer the coupe de gras.

Tillman shut CJ down by himself! Wow he is so good it's almost like there weren't two safeties playing 20 yards off the ball every single play.

Did you see his sick cover skills on the deep ball when he just slowed down and fell in front of CJ and tripped him? That's a savvy vet if I've ever seen one.

He had a really nice play on the pass breakup in the end zone. Good thing Stafford didn't throw it 2 feet higher otherwise Tillman might not have been able to knock it loose.

"6) Cutler is 10-1 in the last 11 games he’s started. No QB in the NFL has a better winning % then that.

Fun time to be a Bear fan."

Cutler's team is 0-4 in the last 4 against the Packers in their last 4 meetings, and the Bears haven't managed to beat their far superior rival in over 2 years. That's right - OVER TWO YEARS.

So go ahead and get all lathered up over a couple of regular season wins against the also rans. Because it's all you have.

Still delusional. That team that scored one offensive touchdown/crushed?! How’s the view from third place?

How is that taste in your mouth from the home NFC Championship game you lost to those Packers?
When was your last superbowl win? Oh yeah, 1985, right!!!
View from 3rd place is mughty fine with by far the easiest schedule the rest of the way...

Charles Tillman as the best cb in the NFL is officially the stupidest thing I’ve ever read on PFT.

And that’s saying a lot, considering the fact that Gregg Rosenthal used to work here.

Good job by Chicago last night. Made plays in the Red Zone when they needed to be made.

However, Bears fans should stop pretending this is the defense from ’85. Take a look at the stats fellas. Chicago is the 6TH, let me repeat, 6th best Defense in the NFL this year. Detroit is 8th. Hardly the parity Bears fans would like everyone to believe.

Bears are 2nd vs the run and 16th vs the pass.
Detroit is 16th vs the run and 6th vs the pass.
No that is not a typo. Detroit’s injury riddled secondary is allowing fewer ypg than the great Bears secondary.

On the other side of the ball, Detroit is 4th in total offense and Chicago is 22nd.

Now you are probably wondering why Detroit is 2-4 and Chicago is 5-1 based on those numbers. Simple – discipline. Chicago is not shooting themselves in the foot with stupid penalties and turnovers, and are creating turnovers of their own.

The Bears can attribute the majority of their success this season to the ability of the D to create turnovers, not by forcing opponents to punt.

Lastly, for those who think Megatron is cursed, he is still averaging 98.7 ypg which is good for 5th best in the NFL.

____

Any clue why the Bears defense might be giving up passing yardage? I'll help you: because they've been up BIG TIME in many of their games. QB's always will get garbage yardage when they're trying to come back vertically downfield. The Bears can attribute much of their success to:

- Being able to force turnovers
- Sacking the QB
- Pressuring the QB
- Their offense finally being able to throw the ball downfield with the ability to run over teams

That's why they're winning. I realize you want to color up the stats to prove a point - it's wrong.

"up they have 5 wins against a schedule that has a combined record of 12 and 19. Good luck going forward – you will need it."

Division games are almost always tougher than out of division games. And while they haven't played a tough schedule to date, the Cowboys were expected to beat the Bears a couple of weeks ago, but the Bears exposed them. Other than last night, the Bears have been blowing out the bad teams.

Let's not also forget, didn't the Pack lose to one of those lousy teams the Bear's beat?

"Stafford in my mind is overrated. And the Bears will go as far as Cutler is verticle. Cutler goes down, and the bears won’t go very far."

I agree with most of what you wrote, but Stafford is still a heck of a qb, but what he needs is another stud opposite Calvin. Not at his level, as those are hard to find, but something better than what they have, which IMO are a bunch of number 3 receivers.

Also, he works better out of the shotgun, which they need to go back to more. And, LeShore is a decent back. They need to give him the ball more, even if its just on draws and screens.

"So the Lions suck so bad that they outgained the great Bears had more first downs and lost by 6 points…all this with 4 turnovers."

Yeah, because that's how you win a game, desperately throwing all over the field to make up a deficit, while the other team is running the ball more to wind down the clock. Better rack up the first downs and yards, because thats what matters in the end, not points...or lack thereof.

The Lions weren't the only team to leave points on the field.

1) Anyone who thinks the Vikings are taking the NFC North - I have a bridge in Brooklyn I can sell you if you'd like.

2) Anyone ripping on the Bears D - well... you're just delusional. Only team in the NFL who haven't given up a total of 100 points yet this year.

3) The Bears offense has scored an average of 22 points a game - note: they also have one of the best scoring defenses and special teams in football.

4) They haven't yet been able to fully utilize offensive weapons in: Hester, Bennett, Rodriguez and most importantly Jefferey.

5) Their defensive line has young difference makers - McClellan, Wooton & Melton.

6) Cutler is 10-1 in the last 11 games he's started. No QB in the NFL has a better winning % then that.

Fun time to be a Bear fan.

Fabulous job by Tillman and I was rooting for the Bears because I can't stand the Lions, but was I only one who was amazed there was no pass interference on the play where he slowed up and Johnson ran into him trying to get to the ball?
