We saw it on the safety were he missed the hnadoff with Wilfork in the backfield, we saw it on a bad dropped pass in the left flat, we saw it on the Mayo hit that kept him from getting a first down and the Spikes hit that knocked him out of the game.

The Patriots defense has been absolutely horrible on the long ball but their linebackers are instilling fear into the opposition’s skill players. Does Fisher really want Amendola going over the middle on a slant this Sunday against the Patriots given his injury?

Not necessarily disagreeing with you, but Welker’s QB is Tom Brady, Amendola’s is Sam Bradford. Brady plays in a pass happy offense with a competent offensive life. Bradford’s O-Line is itself offensive. That makes the production of each receiver different, even if their talents are similar, which I believe they are.

Amendola’s best season has been a 689 yard season. He also missed 15 games last year, and is likely to miss some time this year.

Welker’s worst season in New England has been 848 yards (after tearing his ACL). He even had a 687 yard season in Miami. Hes already at 688 yards through 7 games this year. Out of 5 full seasons in NE, he has had 4 – 1,000 yard seasons. Last year he had 1,569 yards. Not to mention how tough the guy is with some of the hits he takes and just bounces back…hes missed 3 games in 8 years.

So replacing Welker with Amendola isn’t really seen as a win-win from where I’m sitting.
