Kalil’s Super Bowl talk was probably too much, but going into the season, making the playoffs was a reasonable expectation. Consider the Lions:

’08, 0-16; ’09, 2-14; ’10, 6-10; ’11, 10-6 & playoffs.

Compare Carolina:

’10, 2-14; ’11, 6-10; ’12, 10-6 & playoffs?

I don’t think expecting that was out of line. We just didn’t anticipate our O-coordinator reading too much of his own press and getting way too cute with his play-calling, or for everybody and his duck to get hurt again.

Beason, Kalil, and Gamble are elite dude. Trust me, Carolina doesn’t have a lot of elite players, so the one’s they do have stick out like a sore thumb.

add Thomas Davis and Steve Smith and there ya go.

Kalil, considered to be one of the top Centers in the NFL. Elite.

Beason before injuries was a top 5-10 MLB in the NFL. Not sure you can say his play this season was of elite level.

Chris Gamble was second behind Revis last year on how many passes targeted his way actually completed. According to pff. Close to elite level but hasn’t done it enough back to back seasons to be considered elite.

Panthers are rivals so i don’t care for them, but I have much respect for Beason: he plays lights out no matter what the score or record. Hope he heals up soon.

Trade for thse RB’s with those contracts? This isn’t baseball or basketball where you will find someone to pick up your trash. No one wants those contracts and teams will wait for them to be released.

Did that guy say cam had a decent first year. Wow. I know he’s playing like crap now but give credit where it’s due. He had maybe the greatest rookie year for a qb ever. Well at least until rg3 takes that away.

Could PFT create a link that would list the players for each team that are on IR? I’d do it myself but I’m too damn lazy.

I think it would be interesting to see the actual numbers.

And in 2004 they put almost all of their best players on IR. But that team starting with their QB, had fight, heart and determination and with no quit in them they made a 6-2 run to close out the season. This team will have to do something similar I’m guessing to save Rivera’s job. Fox wasn’t the best coach ever, but he certainly was pretty good in adversity (except 2010).

The trend will continue as long as Cam Newton is your quarterback. All of the athleticism in the world won’t help when you a)throw interceptions b)sulk like a five year old at a peewee football game when things don’t go just as planned. This guy had a flash in the pan year at Auburn, only played in the national championship because Alabama backed off the throttle, and beat an overrated Oregon team to win a title in college. He had a decent rookie year, but now defenses have figured him out. Waste of a no.1 pick, but he’ll get you plenty more so no worries.

Trading 2 out of 3 of their RBs for cap relief and draft picks would be a heckuva start. They have more money sitting on the bench at RB than most teams spend on RB total.
