Jay Cutler in Chicago- first year was a huge disappointment. He turned it around in year 2. Were any of you in 2009 saying he was the biggest QB signing bust?

Not every player who signs a big contract lights it up in year 1. Conversely, we’ve seen players play great early tail off after that.

I’m not defending Williams, but let’s not be demanding he retire just yet.

Its easy to jump on a guy who signs a big contract and doesn’t live up to it in the first 7 games, but Mario has 5+ years to go. Everyone is so quick to jump from bandwagon to bandwagon. Get behind the guy if you’re a fan!

Aaaand, what exactly does that have to do with the Mario Williams situation? You can try to rationalize this all you want, but we Texans fans tried to warn you Bills fans, don’t be so giddy over this signing. We knew firsthand about Williams’ injury history, we knew about him taking plays off, we knew that he would occasionally play great, almost making you forget about the other 13-14 games on the schedule. Bottom line: your front office vastly overpaid Mario Williams, a player with no heart, and now your stuck with him. I’ll gladly take JJ Watt over Mario Williams all day, any day. I wonder when Watt’s contract is up, how much scratch he’ll command? I shudder to think about it.

After six years in Houston, even the most average spectator knew what the Texans were going to get from Mario Williams. An occasional flash of spectacular, but never anything consistent. And always those injuries, those nagging injuries. Year after year it was always the same. And, it is exactly what Buffalo is getting now. The only expectations being met are those we, in Houston, expected. We’re just average spectators, but most of us could see this coming.

First 9 games for Julius Peppers in Chicago: 2 sacks

First 7 games for Mario Williams in Buffalo: 3.5 sacks

Let me also mention that Peppers has 8 less tackles and the same amount of sacks as Williams, and Peppers is actually getting paid more this year than Mario Williams. The only reason people are on Peppers’ back is because his teammates around him are doing great. Mario’s…..not so much. Get back, get healthy, and lets get this thing going!

The dissatisfaction with his play has nothing to do with stats, he’s nearly invisible for every single game absent one (Arizona).

The problem here is, is that now he’s in a city where the media won’t shun away from his inept play and or his disappearing act in the middle of games. He doesn’t care because he knows he signed the contract with a clause in it that will pay him even if he gets hurt.
It’s kind of funny that he wants to have the surgery when his next opponent is the team that let his too soft behind, leave without so much as offering a copper penny for his services.

So go ahead and have your surgery, I’m sure you’ll find some doctor out there who will cut on you to make you believe that you have an injury. Meanwhile your team needs you, and once again you’ll leave them in a lurch.

We now have JJ WATT for 1/10th of the cost but with 10x the production and heart!

As a Texans fan, I did like mario and wanted him to succeed, but by no means was he ever my favorite player.
