Awareness. Good. What are we to do with awareness? We are called to be aware of
a lot of different diseases and events.
What are we expected to do with awareness by the cause pushed as the most popular?
Awareness by cause is similar to selecting the flavor of the day.
Games are meant to be played. The NFL is boring enough and does not need a pink day distraction.

Judging by the overwhelming numbers on this board who think this is overkill and a cash-grab by the NFL, it’s time to reign in the hype. They overplayed it and it looks intrusive and unprofessional for nothing more than “awareness”. It’s a merchandising deal for the NFL first and foremost. Only about 5% goes the “finding a cure” detail. It’s not worth the intrusion in to a game with generations of tradition and storied team images – just for “awareness”. We’re aware. We’re also aware of many other more deadly diseases that don’t get the overblown hype and destroy our teams uniforms and fields for 25% of the season. You overplayed it NFL. Time to wrap it up before the reaction goes public and gets embarrassing.

Oh heck why not waste more money and buy the zebras pink and white uniforms to wear to throw the pink flags. I am sure anyone with breast cancer would rather see the money wasted on this crap donated by the NFL towards the cost of the drugs needed to survive the disease.

There are some real asses that comment on this site, especially if you can’t understand the depth of this all.

Everyone doesn’t watch football regularly the way most of us do. If someone glimpses up at TV screen this upcoming weekend and this is the first game they watch all month…as a result goes to get tested, then all of this pink you’re defaming has worked.

Let the 11 year old kid have his moment to contribute. How dare you question what it means to him or to anyone that has had to go through the battle of breast cancer (or any type of cancer).

Even if one life is saved, well then it’s worth it. It’s for one month…deal with it.

Cut the breast cancer crap. No disease gets more attention that breast cancer – how can you raise awareness when everyone already knows – and has known for a generation? My mother had breast cancer, and this stuff made her sick. Sick of special interest activists hogging the spotlight for their particular cause. More women die of lung cancer, but the breast cancer crowd think that those women deserve to die – because they smoked. Nice crowd.

Dwight, I’m sorry about your mom – seriously, I am – but I think the problem many are having with it is “cause fatigue.” There are so many legitimately worthy causes vying for our attention, usually by means of sophisticated marketing campaigns, our concern glands are just worn out. Our heart-strings have lost their elasticity from being yanked on so much, and to insert breast cancer into football is over the top.

Breast Cancer is not even #1 cause of Cancer deaths.
