Megatron was targeted 12 times and had 3 catches. Peanut must have done a terrible job. 99.999% of cornerbacks would have lost that battle in the endzone. Tillman had 7 tackles, two forced fumbles (in a span of three plays, on a player not named Calvin Johnson, that both unfortunately went out of bounds) and he helped shut down Tron…sad Lions fans will look for excuses.

It is six games into a 16 game season. A bit early to crown teams, etc. With that being said…The Bears have won 4 in a row and are playing a level of defense that hasn’t been seen in over a decade. When the Bears are playing defense like this…all is right in the NFL. Respect it.

Speaking for myself, I’m thrilled, and obviously glad Cutler only missed one play after such a big hit by Suh…Showed his toughness, and even non-Bears fans are admitting to a new respect for him after that.

But not all of them…I can’t believe this one:

“So Cutler got hit by a tougher guy, layed there like a sissy, and now Marshall wants to act on it. HAHAHA.

Good hit Suh! Take that girl down.”

So much for opposing fans talking football instead of trash, huh?

(And btw, Cutler did not ‘lay there like a sissy,’ he landed on the ball, bruised his ribs, and had the wind knocked out of him. Came back and finished off the win…Sorry if that makes you bitter.)

Really you can make a case that if he gets to 40 FF and 40 INT, that there needs to be HOF consideration as a CB. There aren’t really many CBs that fit that bill. What’s more impressive is that it seems like a lot of his FF come from WR/RB/TE and are not the easy pickens that happen from a blind side CB blitz.

And that lob down the sideline where Tillman slowed down and fell in front of Megatron?! That’s a Hall of Fame play if I ever saw one!

Will that “even the score” after the Packers won the Halas Trophy there?

I don’t think the Bears can ever even the score, unless they win a NFCCG against the Packers.

That being said, Tillman is the best I’ve seen in a long time at stripping the ball.

C. Woodson has 55 INT and 29FF. R. Woodson has 20 FF and 71 INT.

Once you go from there things get really sparse as far as forcing fumbles. Nate Clements has 23 FF ( 35 INT), and Dre Bly had 20 FF (43 INT).

Glad I’ve had the pleasure of watching you play for my Bears.

It’s funny, I don’t remember seeing any safeties helping Tillman when the Lions were near the goal line, yet Megatron still got shut out of the end zone, despite having a one on one matchup.

The Bears choked against the Packers at Soldier Field in the NFCCG, and haven’t beaten the Packers there since. They haven’t beaten them in over 2 years now.

1. Don’t forget in 2010, the Packers went on the road and lost to the Bears before evening the score and eventually winning the SB… karma?

2. You don’t win the division by playing inconsistent football. Great wins against Houston and Chicago… Bad losses at Seattle and Indy. Also could’ve easily lost to Saints at home if they didn’t miss a FG after first make was penalized.

3. Bears will even the score in their house

Culpepper to Moss in the endzone to win the game – but there’s Tillman to rip the ball away from Moss’s arms for the interception, the game, and denying Minny a seat in the playoffs.

Such a thing of beauty…been a fan ever since.

Glad he’s getting the recognition he deserves now.

If the final score of the game had been 27 – 21 would that have been more appealing to you?

Personally I saw a game where the Bears were pitching a shutout and winning by 13 points with a minute left until a garbage time TD was scored. Much more impressive.

wait, wait, wait…. is your post saying that megatron shouldn’t be called as such, because he’s not producing touchdowns at his normal rate this year?

you do understand in 3 of the 4 previous years, he’s scored double digit touchdowns. how many years does he have to score 12 or 16 to earn a nickname from you?

rough years happen, man, and there’s lots of year left for him to get his TD numbers to “respectable” levels

ps: although it’s not much he does have 1 TD this year. i understand that’s well behind his “accustomed” pace, but it’s counter to your suggestion that he has been held without.

They’ve averaged 27 points a game this year. Game flow, Cutler’s injury, and a dominate D dictated a conservative offensive game.

Maybe, but this year you’ll have to earn it…Vikes are playing well, Bears are better than our week two loss indicated…Whoever wins will deserve it, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see two NFC North teams make the playoffs.

Tillman played good, but the Lions handed the game to the Bears. All things considered, considering all the crappy turnovers, it should be considered a disappointment that the Bears didn’t score more points than they did.

Having said that, much props to Jay Cutler for returning to the game after getting absolutely destroyed by Suh. I gained a lot of respect for him after that.

I also noticed that after the play, Suh was right in there trying to make sure Cutler was alright and shook Cutler’s hand after he walked off the field. Suh is a lot classier than people give him credit for.
