Earlier this month, Texans linebacker Brian Cushing suffered a torn ACL when he absorbed a dirty (but in our view not illegal) hit from Jets guard Matt Slauson. According to Tania Ganguli of the Houston Chronicle, Cushing has now had surgery to repair the fairly important knee ligament.

The procedure reportedly went “very well.” (Extending the streak of professional athlete surgeries not resulting in an acknowledgement that the player got butchered.)

Surgery was delayed by swelling in the knee. Cushing will now embark on a course of rehab that, if all goes well, could see him back at 100 percent in time for training camp 2013.
