I have no problem with him wearing the orange shoes but why wasn’t this a progressive fine/penalty from the NFL? Do seasons ending now “reset” the fine/penalty system? If so, Players now know they can get away with doing something at least twice without losing playing time.

The No Fun League strikes again…The suits are just pissed that any player would dare to defy them, so rather than allow a little fun, and more $ for NFL Charities, they come down hard on something trivial.

I like the above comment that the whole team should wear orange shoes as a show of solidarity.

I’ve got nothing at all against orange shoes. My original hometown team lost many many games wearing orange uniforms. But if the guys signing your paycheck say don’t do it, at some point you really oughta stop doing it. Wear pink shoes.

The NFL is supposed to sell the game worn pink stuff to raise money to fight Breast cancer but I head the other day that after doing this for a few years now the league has only “Raised” 3 million dollars.
Really?
3 million dollars from a league that generates a TON of money?

They could have just donated $1 from every ticket sold for the season and that would have been over $17 million.
If you just wanted to give the public an awareness message then give them a couple of free commercial spots during a game instead of more pickup truck ads.

Yet just another example of how the NFL brass on Madison Avenue is out of touch with the guys in locker rooms all over the country.

I mean really, the shoes match one of the team colors and look great with the Players’ ‘Sunday’s Best’.

One question though, why is no one in the Bears boardroom standing behind these two guys who are trying to show some team spirit?? I suspect it has something to with the disconnect in NYC!?

You defenders of the shield need to get over yourselves. You know good and well that pink isn’t about breast cancer awareness. It’s about marketing to women and selling extra merchandise at ridiculous markups, and I have read that about 4 cents out of every dollar on that stuff actually goes to research, and the majority of it goes in the NFL’s pockets.

I doubt that it would get as out of hand as you think it could get. I can’t see them changing their socks.
Shoes shouldn’t be as big a deal as they are making it out to be. It’s just flat out stupidly ridiculous that they are going nuts over shoes.
I think that’s why there’s a lot of objection to this. It just doesn’t make any sense.

I’m glad the reasonable people finally came out to post about this. It’s hard to understand how people don’t see the importance of keeping a strict uniform policy. Personally I think anyone who shows up out of the exact uniform should be sent to the locker room until they conform.

As an aside, I think the breast cancer awareness pink campaign has gotten out of hand. Stitching the ribbon on the uniform would be respectful. Changing sideline hats, shoes, gloves, and what-not is starting to feel more like pandering than compassion.

Wait a minute!!! So Reggie Wayne wears orange gloves in honor of Chuck Pagano 2 weeks in a row and the league publicly announces they won’t fine him. But a Bear’s player wears orange shoes (team color) and he gets fined?
