“Outside chance” Amendola plays against Patriots

The Rams got wide receiver Danny Amendola back at practice this week, a development which made them quite happy.

Imagine the reaction if he’s able to play against the Patriots this Sunday. That hasn’t been ruled out yet. Amendola said Thursday that there’s an “outside chance” he suits up against the Pats after taking part in his second limited practice of the week. He said that his status for Sunday would depend on how he feels on Friday and coach Jeff Fisher said that no decision has been made yet.

“We’ll have to wait and see how the week goes on,” Fisher said, via the Associated Press.

There’s a pretty fair chance that Fisher is just being cheeky, as the Londoners might say. The Rams have a bye after returning from the other side of the pond and that gives Amendola two more weeks for everything to heal up just a little bit more before jumping back into the fray. Getting him back at practice now accelerates the process, something that should ensure he’s at or close to full speed for the Nov. 11 date with the 49ers.

Whether or not Amendola is able to play, the fact that there’s even a question about his status for this week is a good sign for a St. Louis offense that has missed its leading receiver.
