this is football, plenty of tackles pose extreme risks to plenty of body parts. no way to prevent it. no logical excuse for this fine, or the cost of it.

He didn’t grab the inside of the shoulder pads, the letter of the law, BUT you see Alphonso Smith using all of his body weight to yank Brandon Marshall straight down, perpendicular to his motion.

Watch the play again and watch Brandon Marshall’s left knee, and you’ll see why they fined it.

Seriously? Fines should be save for ridiculous, over-the-top acts that are clearly outside the boundaries. Why fine simple penalties? That’s what flags are for! If a horse-collar is flagged on the field, the incident is over. So now are we going to see fines for holding penalties and pass interference, too? If field penalties are irrelevant, why don’t we just pull the officials, let them play, and fine them later?

The NFLPA should never have agreed to a contract that granted unlimited power to a Commissioner who already has a God complex. And how many head injuries have his methods prevented? That’s what it’s all about … right?

Huge Bears fans and IMO that was no horse collar tackle and shouldn’t have been flagged or fined.
Does dispel the notion that being fined or not proves it was a legal or illegal cheap shot. Since donkey kong should have been fined for trying to injure another player.

Fined for something that WASNT even a horse collar. Just gotta help those Bears out any way they can. Just like 2 years ago when Suh destroyed Cutler well beyond the line of scrimmage, but we gotta protect baby boy Cutler.

That was not a horse collar, shouldn’t have been flagged and now this, the NFL needs to just switch to flags and call it a day.
