If the kid is determined enough he can get back in them pads! Its a different knee but what's the difference if u can still succeed in something with one repaired knee why can't ya with 2? Work hard, stay strong, and don't hang em up till u know it's time! Don't let others decide for ya kid

No. No. And no. If a player is good enough to excel in big time college football at 18, 19, or 20 they’ve proven they should get drafted in the NFL. I’m sick of this paternalistic treatment of legally grown men. If these same young men were to commit a murder most of you guys would be screaming he should know right from wrong and advocate for the most severe penalty. If these young men were to volunteer for the military and get sent to a middle of a war zone no one bats and eye. But oh no don’t let these fragile young men declare for the NFL

This is the most dumbest thing I've ever read. First of all comparing the NFL to prison and the military doesn't make any sense what so ever. The NFL is in a completely different level than college football. The size , strength , and speed is unmatched. For most college football players their bodies continue to develop onto their junior senior years. So yea it really makes sense to put a 19 year old in the NFL. You're just asking for a death wish.

That injury looked horrific and actually made me feel a bit sick. I hope he recovers and plays in the NFL a few years from now but man now both his legs are messed up and that's a really difficult thing to come back from but he's real young and a physical specimen so if any human can do it it will be him. I'm a betting man and I would put my money on him being a 5th round or better pick in 2014. Good luck kid.

Wrong, not if it is a compound fracture. Repairing and rehabbing torn ACL’s has become pretty routine stuff.

It isnt a broken leg. It is a torn up knee (the like of which I have neer seen in a game.. pretty gross looking!)

It isnt the new reconstruction of this injury that is the issue. Maybe it can be repaired to near 100%. The issue with this great, young player is the fact that he tore up the other knee last year. Recovering from the 2nd and opposite knee is a long road. He wont be the same runner after this.

Hopefully he is the exception and can make a come back. This kid could be great in the pros.

Lattimore will almost certainly be able to run again, and probably pretty well at some point.

The problem is one of degrees.

The difference between having NFL level physical ability and not is **so** slim, an injury like that is a huge, huge problem even if he does come back, say, 99%. It's no exaggeration to say a quarter-step or less in speed or ability to cut and change directions can mean having an NFL career and not even getting invited to a camp.

That's the concern, the big problem.

You always hear about the McGahee's and Frank Gore's of the NFL world who had major-to-catastrophic knee injuries in college who end up having NFL careers. What you don't hear about are those who have those injuries... and you never hear from them again.

And with the media cycle the way it is, the immediacy of the internet and everyone has the attention span of a gnat, chances are *very* good well will forget about him pretty quickly and move onto the next Marcus Lattimore in a couple of weeks.

'They'll never forget you until someone new comes along.'

My stepson tore his acl/mcl and dislocated the tibia in his freshman year in hs - he just finished his Senior year and is probably an all state player with several offers in front of him

Sorry but I'm glad theres an age limit on playing in the NFL. The only exceptions that should be made are for those who skip grades ad graduate early. The whole limit thing is in regards to two things. One being being physically strong enough to play with the big boys and the other being maturity. 90% of the 19-20 year olds in this country would be detrimental to their own success given the large amounts of money by being paid as a professional football player.

Diving at someone’s legs, knees particularly, should merit a more severe punishment than a potential “flag”, which I don’t even think was thrown there. The result is potentially career ending and life altering. Best wishes to Lattimore.
----------------------------------
It was tough to watch but it was just a normal football play buddy. It's part of the game and it sucks but it was not illegal or dirty. It was just unfortunate.

Uhh..that’s precisely a reason why they do have the age limit. Imagine the things that would happen if a 19 year old kid got hit by Patrick Willis or Justin Tuck. College separates the young men from the boys and the NFL separates the men from the freaks
------------------------

No. No. And no. If a player is good enough to excel in big time college football at 18, 19, or 20 they've proven they should get drafted in the NFL. I'm sick of this paternalistic treatment of legally grown men. If these same young men were to commit a murder most of you guys would be screaming he should know right from wrong and advocate for the most severe penalty. If these young men were to volunteer for the military and get sent to a middle of a war zone no one bats and eye. But oh no don't let these fragile young men declare for the NFL.

This is such a shame. This guy was supposed to be the next Adrian Peterson, except he could actually catch the football and block. Pretty much a 6ft 230lbs version of Ray Rice.

I hope he get's better (especially after that ACL tear) and show's everyone why he's the best running back prospect of the last decade.
