Cowboys storm back to grab lead

New York Giants v Dallas Cowboys Getty Images

The Cowboys looked like they were on the ropes when they fell behind 23-0 early in the second quarter against the Giants, but they may have been just borrowing the rope-a-dope strategy from Muhammad Ali.

They’ve scored 24 straight points to grab a 24-23 lead with time winding down in the third quarter. They’ve scored two touchdowns on Tony Romo rollouts since the start of the second half. The first was a run by Romo on fourth-and-goal from the foot of the end zone and the second looked like a mirror image until Romo flipped the ball to John Phillips in the end zone for another score.

The Giants defense has still been able to get pressure on Romo, but the Cowboys quarterback is standing up and making the throws he didn’t make in the first half. Eli Manning, meanwhile, is 3-of-10 for 27 yards since the Giants grabbed that 23-0 lead. We mentioned the Giants’ conservative offensive approach at halftime and it appears to be coming back to haunt them in the second half.

Of course, this could just be Manning’s latest variation on the thrilling comeback so we’ll keep watching to see how this seesaw affair plays out.

I just tuned into this game as I got home from work. I forgot it was a cowboys home game until I saw the end zone based on the cheering for good giants plays… Americas team? Really? There seems to be more away fans at every “home” game for the girls… Remember when Tony romo was good? Yea me either hahaha

Romo finished the game by launching a ball way out of the end zone. That’s even worse than taking a sack on the final play. What a chump.

Don’t sip the KoolAid. Garrett is not right for the Cowboys, ans Jerry Jones will NEVER break something that will have him out the rest of the season!

(Good grief, he stood up in the box and probably believes he should have come down and cheer)

Hey, I wasn’t trying to say my Bills are sweet, they’re not. But the Ralph isn’t full of the other teams fans either, the pats an steelers usually travel well to orchard park though. Also no one is trying to force Ryan Fitzpatrick down everyones throat as a great QB like every major network does with romo. He’s a joke and I’m glad people are finally realizing it.

New York residents do not approve of your wording as they brace for Sandy lol.

MattP how’s Mario working out ford you? Did ESPN force him down oue throat as the next best D. Linemen??? You are a true lesson of a JOKE!!!

  14. nat2004nic says: Oct 28, 2012 10:27 PM

MattP who was your QB who lost 4 Super Bowls and was the best at running the K Gun??? Talk about an over rated QB. The SB 4 times and came away 0 – 4. Best you cincetrate that hate towards your own team.

  15. mattypbillsmafia says: Oct 28, 2012 10:32 PM

Ok, again… Spelling… Concentrate is what you were looking for. And that 0 and 4 super bowl QB, Jim Kelly, is in the HOF… as the only QB to lead his team to four straight super bowls. How many PLAYOFF games has little romo won? O yea that’s right… He’s better known for his ex gfs and us open hopes than his playoff performances… 

Hey remember when Romo threw 5 picks and WE STILL beat you on Monday night football??? You really have to be s junk team to let something like that happen. But of course, you’re worrying about our quarterback. You should worry about keeping your pathetic franchise in Buffalo, we have bigger fish to fry than you my friend, sorry.
