Falcons break Reid’s 13-game post-bye streak

Andy Reid, Mike Smith AP

It’s fitting that in a year that could see the Eagles bid farewell to coach Andy Reid, the team lost for the first time under its 14-year head coach after the regular-season “bye.”

Previously 13-0 in the regular season with extra time to prepare, the Eagles lost in decisive fashion at home to the Falcons, 30-17.

The Falcons also had a bye in Week Seven.  It’s the third game for the Eagles this season against a team that was emerging from a bye.  The Eagles are 0-3 in those games.

In Philly’s first game under new defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, the Eagles surrendered 392 total yards, including three touchdown passes by quarterback and MVP favorite Matt Ryan.  The performance prompted chants of “Fire Andy” during the second half.

The Falcons are now 7-0 and in command of the NFC South.  The Eagles have fallen to 3-4.  They head to New Orleans next Sunday.

It just has the feeling that this was Andy Reid’s last post-bye game for them Eagles. Expect a lot of changes in Philly next season!

yikes.. i’m not close to the situation in philly, but andy reid has taken a beating the past several years. that said, it’s probably time the eagles put the guy out of this miserable spot and just fire him. he’s getting disrespected by the fans on a regular basis and it’s sad to see as an outsider.

Guess the Falcons still have not beaten a good team this year? Give me a break.

If the Eagles would have won, all we would hear is how good The Eagles are and how they are back in the thick of things.

The Eagles are so undisciplined I don’t see them pulling it together and making a run like they usually do.

Thank goodness they lost. I did not want to hear how they were now Super bowl contenders again if they won. They were one of the most overrated teams coming into the season and they are officially exposed.

Nobody can lay this blame on the Eagles offense. The defense never showed up. What WAS that? I feel bad for Andy that he’ll lose his job the same season he lost his son. :(

But there’s something very wrong with this team, in all phases. Its like they are so focused on “We have talent” that they don’t put forth the effort that’s required to be successful. It’s as if they feel that being on the field is all that’s required.

It’s a sense of entitlement that makes no sense considering they’ve won NOTHING. Not even a playoff game. They are in need of huge doses of humility.

Talk about two teams I had pegged all wrong going into the season. That’s what makes the NFL so great: nothing’s predictable.
