With the Dolphins facing a team still adjusting to the loss of cornerback Darrelle Revis for the season, the road team will finally unveil its newest offensive weapon.
Veteran receiver Jabar Gaffney will play for Miami today, a league source tells PFT.
Gaffney was inactive for both of his prior games with the Dolphins. As of Friday, it wasn’t clear whether he’d dress against the Jets, and coach Joe Philbin had been keeping Gaffney’s status close to the vest.
“I’m doing everything in my power to get myself ready to go out there and help this team out on Sunday,” Gaffney said this week, via the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. He explained that he hasn’t been playing only because he didn’t know the playbook sufficiently.
Gaffney, 31, spent training camp and most of the preseason with the Patriots. An original member of the Texans in 2002, he also has played for the Broncos and Redskins.
