Samuel says Reid snubbed him after the game

One of the overlooked story lines in Sunday’s game between the Falcons and Eagles came from the fact that Atlanta cornerback Asante Samuel was facing his former team from Philly for the first time.

After the game, the always-loquacious Asante had something to say about his former head coach, Andy Reid.

Reid snubbed him.

“Andy Reid, why didn’t you speak to me?” Samuel told reporters, via  “What did I do to you man?  I got nothing but love for you Big Red. . . .  He wouldn’t speak to me, man, can you believe that?  As happy as I am, he wouldn’t even tell me ‘Great game Asante, I love ya man.'”

Samuel addressed the topic several times in his comments to the media.

“Can you believe that?” Samuel said.  “He didn’t speak to me.  Like it’s my fault, like what did I do to you?  You know what I meant?  I think it was the way we was dancing out there; it got to him a little bit.”

If Reid didn’t care for Samuel’s dancing, Samuel’s comments may get to Reid a little, too.

“The difference between these teams?” Samuel said.  “I think it’s the coaching. We got really good coaching, we run the ball.”

Reid has bigger fish to fry than worrying about what Samuel has to say.  Still, it’s more proof that things are quickly unraveling for Reid and the Eagles.

Do these players ever get tired of crying the blues. Who cares if the coach who just had it handed to him hunted out an X player. Get a real life!

  2. skoobyfl says: Oct 28, 2012 8:26 PM

Reid has never been good with kids.

  3. iceshocker says: Oct 28, 2012 8:26 PM

still can’t believe we only had to give up a late rounder to get him. INCREDIBLE pick up. Part of the reason we’re in the top 5 in scoring defense.

  4. bigbluefan1 says: Oct 28, 2012 8:26 PM

Andy was late for dinner Pats a double double waiting for him

  5. blacknole08 says: Oct 28, 2012 8:27 PM

Don’t worry, Asante. Maybe Reid had more pressing things on his mind — like his job security.

  6. ravenmuscle says: Oct 28, 2012 8:28 PM

Why should an NFL head coach say anything to a low life cornerback that has an IQ of a rock and hardly attended any classes in college and can barely speak English?

This clown should be selling peanuts outside of the stadium…and saying PEANUTS YAWL.

  7. conormacleod says: Oct 28, 2012 8:29 PM

The Eagles lost, and this guy thinks Reid should seek him out to congratulate him? Reid has a lot bigger issues to worry about.

  8. joetoronto says: Oct 28, 2012 8:32 PM

    Stay classy, Asante.

It gets worse than the excerpts you see here.

As a Pats fan, it’s an excellent illustration of why I’m glad this piece of trash in no longer in New England.

Atlanta does not run the ball. They attempt to run the ball because Michael Turner is putrid. I think he had like 23 carries for 60 yards. That is turrible (Charles Barkley voice)

  15. pftcensorssuck says: Oct 28, 2012 8:45 PM

Good GOD!!!!!!! I am sick to death of today’s players whining about “respect”!!!!!!

Hey Aasante, let’s look at what you said when you wanted out of Philly:

“”I wanted to be a Falcon, so we made it work,”

You RESTRUCTURED YOUR CONTRACT to get this deal done, REMEMBER????????

Where was YOUR respect for Reid THEN, huh?????

I don’t blame the fat guy for avoiding you, moron!

“What did I do to you man?” Really?, you trashed him on twitter last week. Don’t think reids even thinking about u asanti u egomaniac.

Asante – Andy lost his son this year. Can you get over yourself? He might be/should be fired but get over yourself dude. Hope you are one and done in the Playoffs so you can shut up.

  19. tebownextmarino says: Oct 28, 2012 8:49 PM

    Andy Reid is fat

  20. fdugrad says: Oct 28, 2012 8:55 PM

Is it the position or what? Put Samuel together with DeAngelo Hall of the ‘Skins and you have non-stop drivel emanating from two of the largest rock heads of all-time. Hope they have both saved serious cash during their soon-to-be-over careers, because they are TOTALLY unemployable in the real world.

  21. djaehne says: Oct 28, 2012 8:56 PM

Just shut up and play football. You’re paid to play, talking is a reason to deduct you check.

  23. armchairqb says: Oct 28, 2012 9:00 PM

  30. tagryn says: Oct 28, 2012 9:51 PM

I’m surprised Asante had the energy left to try and track down Reid, after all the running away from tackles he did during the game…

  31. commonsensedude says: Oct 28, 2012 9:53 PM

Clueless Asante Samuel – Coach Reid just lost his son and may be about to lose his job. Seriously – you’re an adult now. Do you really not yet understand that the whole world isn’t thinking about or worrying about you all the time? He’s got a lot of things on his mind and you are not one of them.

This is wrong but really funny.

It sure was. He dissed Reid’s parenting skills and Asante’s maturity in a 7 word sentence.

    On another note.

“Reid has bigger fish to fry than worrying about what Samuel has to say. Still, it’s more proof that things are quickly unraveling for Reid and the Eagles.”

I sure hope so. Looks like that Man can eat some pretty big fish.

  33. johnnyjagfan says: Oct 28, 2012 10:04 PM

With as much history as those two have, Coach should have shaken hands with his former player after the game. You can’t give me a reason why not.

  34. nflgiant says: Oct 28, 2012 10:23 PM

Reid has a turnover machine for a QB.#1 Vick is not a starting QB,a backup at best,Reid is has lost he mojo, and should retire,he clearly is burned out.

  35. keepounding1234 says: Oct 28, 2012 10:26 PM

Why would he spend his time with you. BFD.

  36. tfoz5150 says: Oct 28, 2012 10:27 PM

skoobyfl is an idiot. asante.. never liked the guy either. this just proves another example why. all reid needs to do to turn this teams fortunes around is set vick down, put foles in his place, and the rest will take care of itself.

  37. iggles07 says: Oct 28, 2012 10:32 PM

Seriously people, the comments about Reid and his son aren’t even remotely funny, it’s classless and deplorable.

Say whatever you want about his coaching, that’s well deserved. But the man just lost his son, have just a shred of respect.

  38. sixjak says: Oct 28, 2012 10:37 PM

    Funny thread.

  39. hrmlss says: Oct 28, 2012 10:56 PM

So, in the mercenary NFL now, the head coach of a team that just lost, is EXPECTED, to seek out on a crowded field, each and every FORMER member of their team and thank them for being on the team that just beat them? Non-issue, unless fat Andy spat in his face or something. I Hate Andy, Philly, and the E-girls, but Asante is just being the diva he has always been. Why else was he traded away for a pox ridden cow, or something along that line…..

  40. steelersandladyboysfan says: Oct 28, 2012 10:57 PM

Thumbs up if Atlanta actually wins a playoff game this year

Thumbs down if same old frauds

  41. iremeber4610 says: Oct 28, 2012 11:23 PM

Hey Asante. Brady just called. Still waiting for you to come shake his hand after dropping the undefeated season he carried you to.

  42. pgjimmy says: Oct 29, 2012 12:37 AM

He might be an idiot but as a pats fan id take asante back over any scrub we have in that swiss cheese secondary….as least he will take one back for a pick 6 once in awhile, the pats secondary just plays 20 yards off every WR and routinely lets one grab a 50 yard TD (from the worst QBs in the league)

  43. upperdecker19 says: Oct 29, 2012 1:16 AM

Folicles snubbed Asante’s hairline as well.

  44. scottdavid329 says: Oct 29, 2012 2:01 AM

Thumbs up if the Steelers actually make the playoffs this year, thumbs down if they are getting so old and played out that their run is about over.

  45. scottdavid329 says: Oct 29, 2012 2:07 AM

Also like the Pats fan acting like he’s glad Samuel is gone..have you SEEN your secondary lately? Once Brady is gone, your team is toast. The defensive genius Belichek can’t draft defenders to save his life…his starting WRs at corner won’t look quite as smart when he doesn’t have an offense putting up 40 a game.

  46. gpack17 says: Oct 29, 2012 3:23 AM

“Reid has bigger fish to fry than worrying about what Samuel has to say.”

I take it this isn’t a figure of speech; Andy Reid literally had bigger fish to fry.

  47. lawyermalloy says: Oct 29, 2012 6:01 AM

Enough already! Respect/disrespect complaints are getting real old; just play the damned game and shut up !

  48. flyeredup says: Oct 29, 2012 9:40 AM

Asante, he had to get to Golden Corral. The all you can eat buffet offer ended at 5 yesterday.

  49. joeyd524 says: Oct 29, 2012 10:49 AM

Giants fan all the way but I think Asante is my new favorite player..he was freaking great

  50. starderup says: Oct 29, 2012 11:07 AM

I’m a Falcon fan, but some of my good friends like the Eagles, and I just felt bad for them yesterday.
Vick is no longer the amazing accelerating wonder. He has lost more than a step. If he keeps taking hits like that, he’ll be like Muhammad Ali in ten years. Reid’s days are clearly numbered. He’ll be lucky to finish this season. It it too bad. I thought he was one of the NFL’s best coaches.

  51. roddytorock84 says: Oct 29, 2012 6:13 PM

I love all the ignorant Philly comments. The falcons owner had the decency to speak with Vick prior to the game because he has class. Something I wouldn’t except Philly fans to understand
