Brandon Jacobs a healthy scratch for Niners

Brandon Jacobs, Jim Harbaugh AP

The debut of running back Brandon Jacobs as a member of the 49ers will have to wait at least another week.

Jacobs, who has yet to play this year due to a preseason knee injury, is inactive for tonight’s game between San Francisco and Arizona, even though he was not listed on the injury report.

Also inactive are quarterback Scott Tolzein, first-round rookie receiver A.J. Jenkins, second-round running back LaMichael James, fourth-round rookie guard Joe Looney, sixth-round rookie safety Trenton Robinson, and defensive tackle Ian Williams.

Scratched for the Cardinals are quarterback Kevin Kolb (rib), tight end Todd Heap (knee), receiver LaRon Byrd, guard Senio Kelemete, guard Adam Snyder, cornerback Greg Toler, and linebacker Jamaal Westerman.

Healthy scratch? Give the Giants front office on avoiding this nightmare.

Why do niners even have Jacobs? Along with top two draft picks still haven’t even seen the field. Smh

Yep, sure was an upgrade at the skilled positions:

AJ Jenkins, 1st round pick: 1 game dressed, 0 plays
LaMichael James, 2nd round pick: 0 games dressed
Brandon Jacobs: 2 games dressed, 0 plays
    Mario Manningham: ummm, so-so

@skeebo – to give the 49ers something that nobody else on their roster can give them. Championship mettle.

Know who else never saw the field for the first half of the season? Ahmad Bradshaw in 07′.

They have Dixon, behind Gore and Hunter. When was he going to play anyway? And James is the heir-apparent to Gore. I’m happy for Brandon, that he got his money. He took pay cuts twice while he was here so that guys could get theirs. He’s still loved here.

This teams inactive list would start for half the teams in the league…at least! :-)

Jacobs needs to play though. He needs to get some plays under his belt before an injury forces him into service and he is cold..

At least two of them couldn’t start HERE, that’s why they’re THERE to begin with.

And none of them would start ANYWHERE except teams desperate for a running game like Green Bay or Arizona.

Sounds like the niners had one hell of a draft last year. None of them are good enough to contribute. And don’t give me the “niners don’t play their rookies” crap. If they’re good, rookies will play. Regardless of which team drafts them.

He is twinkle toes… always has been always will be. He is soft.

Softest RB in the league. Hit the guy a few times in the legs and he folds like a stack of cards.

Um, Bradshaw played in 12 games in 07. And oh yeah, it was his rookie year. Is Joacbs a rookie? No. Is he a cry baby whose best years are behind him and his only hope for good rushing stats depends on playing behind an awesome offensive line? Yes.

Why did they even sign this guy?

  14. joetoronto says: Oct 30, 2012 4:55 AM

He can always go back on Shark Tank, the loser.

  15. tiggerblood says: Oct 30, 2012 6:12 AM

Hey Zaggs um Bradshaw had 23 rush attempts in those 12 games which isn’t even 2 per game. So not really they were probably all garbage time carries too! He did return kicks that year though.

@zaggs – I think Jacobs gets a bad rap being called twinkle toes. I watched the Dallas-NYG replay last night (from the JPP blocked FG game last year) and he ran like a beast that game.
