Things are good in Indianapolis right now.
The Colts are 4-3 and riding a two-game winning streak into a date with the Dolphins that could push them even further into the chase for a playoff spot. Quarterback Andrew Luck is giving the team exactly what they hoped to get when they made him the first overall pick in April and the team’s running game has come to life the last two weeks.
All that good news got a little better on Monday when head coach Chuck Pagano attended the team’s coaches meeting. Pagano has not been with the team since he was diagnosed with a form of leukemia during the team’s bye week. Pagano was released from the hospital in time to watch the team beat the Browns in Week Seven and has remained involved with the team since learning about the disease.
His return for a meeting probably doesn’t do anything to alter the timeline for Pagano’s return to a full time schedule. Interim coach Bruce Arians said, via Philip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star, that Pagano wore down during his visit and it will be some time before Pagano is well enough for a full workload. The fact that he’s well enough to make an appearance at Monday’s meeting is great news, though, and we hope it’s followed by a lot more.
