Trade deadline could move due to storm

With the trade deadline set for Tuesday and Hurricane Sandy bearing down on the East Coast, a league source tells PFT that there’s talk of the window being extended.

It makes sense. The league office has shut down for Monday, and it likely will be closed again on Tuesday.

This year, the league moved the deadline from the Tuesday after Week Six to the Tuesday after Week Eight. There have been no serious trade rumblings as the deadline approaches, and no serious injuries that would prompt a team to make a deal like the one the Raiders did last year with the Bengals, after quarterback Jason Campbell suffered a broken collarbone.

If the deadline is pushed back, it likely will be only a nudge. We’ll check into the situation and update once we know more.

UPDATE 1:54 p.m. ET: The league has announced the deadline has been pushed back to Thursday afternoon, a 48-hour extension.
