Isn’t there some “catch up” provision after the season that bonuses veterans that significantly outplay their low pay contracts? I remember that from the past, but have never heard it mentioned re:Cruz.

Watching the giants for 50 years, and only still know this, any contract signed during the season, will be loaded for the giants ownership!
This is only his 2ND year, and the 8Th game of it to boot, I’m not a proponent to ‘deal” in season, the player gets what they can offer, and the cap is the cap.
Victor should shut up, play, and not answer any questions regarding his contract, that’s how vets
get it done, on the “QUIET”, shzzzzz.

Cruz wasn’t drafted that’s why he didn’t hold out this offseason!!!! He had to prove he wasn’t just a one year wonder and now that he has its only right the giants take care of him ASAP!!!!

LOL, I was gonna come in here and say PAY THE MAN! but someone beat me to it.

The thing is, he didn’t hold out, as he could have. He didn’t do dancing with the stars for more money, as he could have. While $540K is a great deal for me and the vast majority of people on this site, it is nothing for a top 5-10 receiver who is both explosive and a threat.

I reiterate, PAY THE MAN!

If teams expect high quality play and full devotion from their players, they shouldn’t wait so long to reward the players like Victor Cruz. This was a no brainer and should have been done already. Clearly underpaid !!

As you would expect I hate the Giants, but I have the utmost respect for the way Cruz handled this past offseason and contract negotiations. He is a high-class, high-character guy playing a position where that’s a rarity.
