Bryant McKinnie sued for $375,000 in strip club bills

Cincinnati Bengals v Baltimore Ravens Getty Images

Ravens offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie is being sued by the owner of several Miami strip clubs for racking up bills at the establishments and failing to pay them.

NBCMiami.com reports that strip club owner Charles “Pop” Young filed a lawsuit against McKinnie in Miami-Dade Circuit Court Monday afternoon. Young says McKinnie ran up bills at strip clubs Young owned between February of 2009 and September of 2010, and that Young now wants McKinnie to pay up. According to Young, the total McKinnie owes is $375,000.

McKinnie has a history of financial problems. He took out a loan for $4.5 million to get him through last year’s lockout, and the Ravens are currently garnishing half of his net wages to pay back the company that made him the loan. The lockout didn’t cancel any games and therefore the lockout didn’t cost any players any game checks, so if McKinnie’s financial situation was so precarious that the mere possibility of losing a paycheck had him scrambling to find a loan during the lockout, he’s in bad shape.

McKinnie has made tens of millions of dollars during his NFL career, but the Ravens cut his salary before this season, and with his wages already being garnished, he may not have $375,000 to his name.

No matter how many others talk/write about the folly of squandering precious funds needed for a LIFETIME of needs following extremely short careers, there will always be a population of dolts who will end up with NO money, job, education or employment skills after the NFL. 23. nockinon7sdoor says: Oct 30, 2012 9:29 AM

I don’t see how this reflects much on the Ravens’ organization, but it is another distraction they do not need right now. And isn’t Mr. McKinnie married with children? A fine example he is setting.

At any rate, just 2 weeks until Ravens vs Steelers. Hope neither team suffers any further serious injuries before then, though Mr. Harbaugh is likely to have a hissy fit after his recent fine (re: Mr. Reed’s injury) and have 52 players on his injury report this week.

Pretty sure he was in Minnesota for 2009-2010 but nice attempt to take a jab at the ravens organization for controlling what a guy does in his personal life. Maybe you can blame the ravens for his part in the boat scandal too. As you can see they took half his salary to pay creditors which seems to be a pretty good step from an organizational stand point.

  25. rhopperstad says: Oct 30, 2012 9:35 AM

I’m sure there is some kind of government program he can enroll in for this problem and have the strip club paid with tax dollars, he should pick up his free obama phone and check in to it . it’s that doggone Bush’s fault.

  31. monkeyjuice313 says: Oct 30, 2012 9:55 AM

  35. drewj7 says: Oct 30, 2012 10:19 AM

This has nothing to do with the Ravens franchise or their fans. Nor does it have anything to do with the Vikings franchise or fans. Why are all you numbskulls always so quick to hate on teams? Doesn’t matter who it is, you’ll just hate hate hate.

Bryant McKinnie is indeed a moron though.

  36. Where's Bud Grant when you need him? says: Oct 30, 2012 10:21 AM

Now we know why the Vikings cut him for being a fat ass… he should sue the strip club for selling him all those fattening drinks. They cost him millions… millions I say!!!

What I don’t understand is wtf this guy did with his money. He borrowed millions against his potential 2011 salary. Then got paid anyway by the Ravens since the strike ended and he landed there. Plus his 2012 salary to boot.

Unless it was the workout bonuses he didn’t get… maybe he needed those to pay his bar tab. Fat ass indeed…

  37. nolaisadump says: Oct 30, 2012 10:22 AM

Why let him run up the bill? So I can own an NFL lineman. If I own a couple, I can control the game. Gambling.

  42. taintedsaints2009 says: Oct 30, 2012 11:01 AM

This isn’t surprising. If you’ve ever been to a Miami club, many people have a Bryant McKinnie story. If pacman made it rain in clubs, then McKinnie made it hurricane. This has nothing to do with him being a Viking or raven. He’s just a reckless guy.

  43. albertmn says: Oct 30, 2012 11:09 AM

Ridiculous. He was obviously playing the big shot and spending for all his crew. He should just live in Vegas. I would have to believe you could go to the Bunny Ranch or some other establishment and actually get something for $500 or less. $500 a day for a year and a half would have been about $275,000. He could have saved money and got to do more than look.

But, at the same time, I can’t feel too sorry for the idiot strip club owner that would give anybody that large of a credit line.

I’d love to check the arrests and such in the past 3-4 years and compare the Bengals to the rest of the league and see how much you’re stupid comment holds water. I’m a huge Bengal fan and I know we have a sorry owner but for you to hate on us because of past issues is becoming completely ignorant. Find another team to lose sleep over.
